For my curiosity.. is there a list of 1978 available options out there?

Maybe some of you guys that have been directly involved with the manufacture of Ford truck (or similar line of involvement with Ford) can help me.

IS there a web site (or a list ANYWHERE) that contains 1978 year model AVAILABLE OPTIONS information?
IOW... I have a 1978 Custom F150 and I would like to find a list of AVAILABLE OPTIONS for a 1978 F150 Custom.
SO....
If I was standing at a Ford dealer in 1978 and I was about to order my F150 Custom, what OPTIONS could the dealer offer me?

Is that info out there.....?

Mike

A 1978 truck brochure would be a good place to start. Here's a pic of the options pages in the 78 brochure. Shouldn't be too hard to find one on eBay, just don't pay too much for one, they are not rare!

This is very cool. Thanks for sharing.

Higher-end passenger side visors came with a vanity mirror!!! ??? Since when?!

scottscott 01-16-2019 05:11 PM

Those passenger side visors with vanity mirrors bring big bucks! I've been looking for one for 15 years & still haven't found one. Other than the $250 visors on eBay.

Scroll a bit....https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/showpost.php?p=14696874&postcount=23

And here is a list from a fellow FTE member. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/showpost.php?p=14696916&postcount=34

And the light works. FYI they make your visors fat/thick and poofy. lol

See 04104-5 in pic for the part numbers for these puppies.

Page is for 1979, but shows the original 1978 part numbers and the part numbers that were added for 1979.

Besides 1978/79 F100/350, these were also used on 1978/79 Bronco.

That should help some people looking for them to know they were also used in the 78/79 Bronco. By chance is the part # you posted used in any other Ford vehicles? I figured if it was you would of posted it, (like always) but I just want to ask.

And yes shop around.

$2.99 https://www.ebay.com/itm/1979-Ford-t...Wty:rk:55:pf:0

Same as above but for $13.50 https://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-19...4ml:rk:29:pf:0

$15.00 https://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-19...Hkn:rk:31:pf:0

Same as above but for $12.45 https://www.ebay.com/itm/ORIGINAL-19...nme:rk:36:pf:0

A different one $12.99 https://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-19...wTF:rk:44:pf:0

Not the same as cars, and while some cars had visors with vanity mirrors, most were non illuminated. T-Birds, Lincoln Town Cars/Continental Marks all had illuminated mirrors.

77&79F250 01-17-2019 01:28 PM

So....do you think a guy could locate one for a T-Birds, Lincoln Town Cars/Continental Marks and make in work in a truck? As maybe an option?

As long as the length is correct, I don't see why not. The thing is, the OP is in MS and you're in MO, where will you find 1970's cars in wrecking yards?

In the early 1970's, two friends of mine from Maryland flew into LAX, then stayed at my house for several days, then we drove to Reno to attend the Packard Club national meet.

I picked them up in my 1955 Packard Patrician, then drove north on the 405 freeway. Both of them were swiveling their heads, looking left and right.

One said: "Look at all the old cars, we don't have these cars back east, all have rusted out!"

I said "Welcome to California!" :-missingt We hit several junkyards, one had a '47 Packard w/the accessory front bumper guard. One of the guys had one a these cars, asked how much.

Junky said: "10 bucks if you take it off, 15 bucks if I do." Friend took it off while saying he had just bought a rusty user from a seller in Hemmings for 100 bucks.
