4.6L engine: More power from Canadian version? Seperate Windsor version?

Hello all. First post on this board. I don't own a Ford pickup but a guy I know has one and is always braging about the fact that it has a 4.6L Windsor. I don't know much about Ford motors but I always thought Windsor motors were associated with older 351's. His pickup is from Canada and he also states that it has more power because of this (310 HP). Is this true because I don't believe it? Could someone also claifiy the whole Windsor thing (like was there another motor aka Cleveland or are all 4.6L motors made in Windsor Ontario). Thanks.

Hi nd7017 and welcome to FTE :)

There are 2 different 4.6's...the Windsor and the Romeo.
The Windsor is supposedly the tougher engine with a bit thicker castings etc but I believe the horsepower ratings are the same. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong :)

how do you tell the motor apart??

The easiest way is just by the trucks VIN.
If the 8th digit is an 8 it is a Windsor, it it's a W it's a Romeo.
