Aluminum SD not for me, yet!
I'm not a fan of being a "beta tester" for new designs.
After hanging back and watching, I'm VERY happy to hold on to my truck. The increase in early death wobble, rattles and so forth, makes me pleased to hold on to my 2013 for a bit longer. :-X22 |
Death wobble has been out ever since solid axles and coil springs were put together. So jeep dodge trucks and the 05 up super duty plus other manufacturers. Rattles and such are in ever vehicle , I'm keeping my 04 f350 becasue i can not stand boxed chassis rails, and electronic aids for stopping starting braking and ever other thing Associated with driving.

Frozen door handles, rattley doors, leaking sunroofs, thin paint, ect. Shouldn't be a beta tester by now, but it seems so to me! |
And you think the 2011 to 2016 didn't have similar issues for people?......
As I have said previously, Forums magnify problems. You have a dozen people complain on a forum but yet there might be 500,000 trucks on the road. You have to take reported problems on a forum with grain of salt.....and the same problem by the same person might be reported on multiply forums... |
I still don’t understand the concern over aluminum trucks and the idea that it’s a new concept. Semis have been aluminum cabs with steel frames for decades with no issues. I own 3 that are 15 years old with close to 2 million miles on them and have been driven in every condition imaginable and are in better shape than my steel f250 with less than 70k miles. Jets are aluminum and withstand far greater forces and temperature changes than any vehicle on the road. After watching every Ford I own rust to pieces no matter what I do to take care of it I am thrilled to death that they are doing something to help that.

My 2015 has a lot of interior noises that drive me crazy. My buddy's 2018 F350 does not.

Most of our shop trucks look like golf balls we stopped counting the dents , We had a bird fly into one of the aluminum body trucks ... while driving put a huge dent in the front fender . I'm not a big fan of the Aluminum in the thickness Ford should increase to .090 instead of the thickness of a coors light can ... LOL |
the 17+ are F-150s with bigger axles

My 2013 has NO squeaks or rattles with 67,000 miles. |
Wish my '11 was like that. It has squeaked and rattled in the cab since about 40,000 miles. Washboard dirt roads tend to do that.
