It was changed in 2019. Your only option for the percentage would be Forescan.

My 2017's first oil change warning came between 9 & 10k. According to Forscan, the next one will be close to the same mileage. You can view oil life %, miles since last change & estimated miles to next change in Forscan.

The percentage is available on the 2017 trucks as well, under the Oil Life Reset tab. Can’t speake for lower trims, but it is on Platinum. All stock. |

Is yours a 6.2l or diesel? 2017 gas trucks display the percentage and diesels do not as I understand it. My 6.2l XL does.

You can use Forscan to access oil change % life remaining, or you can use a vehicle health report and download to the Fordpass app for diesels for 2017 and 2018s. If you have a Canadian truck the vehicle health report is out, I know I have tried to no avail. Therefore I use ForScan. 2017 diesel crew long box Lariat Ultimate. i have a service package at 5000 mile intervals, or 8000 km. I am at just over 41,000 km now since bring home Dec 2016. first oil change at 8000 km, oil life remaining was 30%. second oil change at 16,000, oil life remaining 23%, summer towing, DEF empty, added two jugs before next this service and it was empty again. 3rd oil change at 24,000 km, oil life remaining 30% again, included fuel filters 4th oil change 32,000 km, 27% remaining 5th oil change 40,000 km, 23% remaining. only time I see the change oil soon is when they forget to reset the oil life. I always check on Forscan at around 7000 km, and then set the date for service and check a few days before for oil life remaining. i am sure I could do normal service at 10,000 km, or maybe even 12,000 km, but with a service package, I take it in and get it all done at once. When I am doing my own I am sure I will use the oil life, but will probably splurge for full synthetic and do myself. It won’t be as hard at home because if I do oil and filter one weeekend and hit 25,000 km and need to do fuel filters will do when the time comes. when towing in the summer, I burn an entire tank and a half of DEF before the next service. Last time I filled at a DEF pump it took 16litres or almost gallons, in only 3500 km since being filled. The more DEf burned and pulling, the less oil life remaining. a lot of guys on here are timing out in 1year since oil, even if the Mileage is well below the interval because the minder says change oil every year at minimum. |

That is great. I know that the 2017 and 2018 trucks do not unless the dealer turns it on for you or you use forscan to change the setting. Ford should default to oil % being available.

I got the message to change oil at around 8,200 & was about 8,400 when I actually changed it. 2nd time was right around 16,000 miles so I’m seeing it around 8K mile intervals. Black Stone reports say everything is looking fine. |
I cannot help you with when it comes on, but I can give you some data points on when it doesn't. First change was at just over 7000 miles, coming out of winter, and wondering how long it would go, same as you. Had some long trips scheduled, and did not want to get caught out, so a gave in and changed it. Second change went 7800 miles, with no indicator. With winter closing in, and figuring it was one of the last warm (mid 40's) weekends, I again changed it before the indicator.
