Lovin' the '04!

So in 2004 I bought a brand new Expy for my bride. It's been a pretty amazing truck having transported us from Va to Maine, Va to Fla and all points in between.

At 80K miles I needed to replace the fuel pump, I was a little distraught that it failed that quick but we had it done. It turned out to be a bad pump because 20K miles later I had to do again on my dime as the warranty had timed out. No help from Ford but oh well, what are you going to do.

So the other day we had the front and rear vent control actuators replaced and the passenger front window regulator and switch.

In addition to coils, plugs and tires, I've no other issues and now we're at 123K miles. My wife only drives about 7000 miles per year in the last 5 years so the miles are way low on it.

I can't say enough good about this truck, IMHO, it's pretty stellar in it's performance, MPG's and reliability. I haven't had a payment in 9 years so what little I've put into it has been a blessing as compared to another huge payment.

I believe that the 2006 and old expy's were the best that Ford has built.

Yeah if you are the original owner its worth holding on to. How are the lower ball joints ? If the dust boots are cracked or ripped its a good idea to go ahead and replace them. If you start hearing a click from the rear corners in early morning turns that's the rear lower bushings (ball joints that are actually bushings...). The heavy duty rear swaybar upgrade will help the handling. If you haven't replaced the fusebox, that will be coming up. The waterpump is an easy preventive maintenance job as well. Mines at just over 200k miles and the timing chains are just starting to rattle on the guides on a cold start up. I'll replace 'em over the holidays. I agree with your assessment though, overall it's a great vehicle for the family.
