1977 F100 2WD 460 Swap
My 77 F100 has a 351m/400 that I would like to swap out for a 460 with C6 transmission but How hard is this swap? Would I be better off going with a 400 engine? Keep in mind the transmission in my truck right now is shot and the engine has had enough. |
460 is a bunch of little things. You will need a larger radiator, exhaust, and a few other things you will find along the way.
400 is easier. 9.5 pistons, a cam that opens the valves, dual exhaust, 4bbl carb if you want, you can double your HP, bring the torque up quite a bit, burn no more gas, not have pay for other stuff and you're going to be fiddling with a transmission anyway so have that one rebuilt. You'll be driving in far less time for far less money. Your '77, brakes, suspension, etc, will be happier with that 400 also. Serving suggestion. |
