fuel mileage

2001 F- 350 crew cab 8' bed 4wheel drive powerstroke.
What kind of mileage should I expect to get, currently getting 14-16

Sounds like your in the ballpark. Some trucks do better some don't. I just checked my mileage and am averaging 15.6mpg mostly city driving.

If i drive no faster than 65 i will get 18 mpg. But I drive the desert alot and 80 is not all that uncomon 15.5 mpg. I do have 4.10 gears. so I run 35" tires to help off set the lower gears but the higher truck pushes more air. Or more drag.

What gear ratio do you have? My 4x4 dually with a 4.10:1 gets about 14.5 or so, but mostly due to my heavy right foot.........

i think your inline with most on this site. depending on what kind of mods you've done like exhaust, chips, air intake,etc....it could be more. and the big thing is oil, filters, and driving habits! the longer you go between oil changes and filter changes...the worse most mileage get....they want to be pampered...but in exchange they'll work like a dog!

I get 15-16 in town, less if I hot rod around. 18-19 on the highway between Tucson to Phoenix if I keep it between 65-70 mph. If I drive 75-80 then my mileage takes a pretty big hit. Same when I'm towing...Loaded truck/trailer weighs about 19,500 lbs gets 5.5 mpg if I drive 75 mph and 8-9 mpg if I drive 65 mph. I like how these trucks give you options, if time is more important, then step on it and you'll have power on tap to keep up with traffic. If you are more casual and have a little time to spare, then settle in at 65-70 mph and you'll almost forget the trailer is back there.
