351 Windsor specs

Can anyone tell me what the stock compression ratio is for a 1995 F-150 with a 351 Windsor? What is the stock combustion chamber volume? Hope someone knows, thanks.

8.8:1 340 ft lbstorque@3200 240 hp@4200 california had less hp&torque that year according to a chart in chiltons. i am guessing stock still had the 69cc heads that year.

isn't that a little high for a stock windsor? I though its peaks were 300 ft lbs at 2800 and 200 hp at 3800

pfogle 09-26-2003 09:56 PM

I thought it was 210hp and 325 ft lbs of torque.

i saw a chart in chiltons truck manual. i think that was the listing for the calif sold truck. i dont know only typing down whats in the book.

Moved to the 351 forum. This doesn't have anything to do with the truck, just the engine, so it belongs here.

I suppose there should be a way to figure it out if you know the mass of the truck and the time it takes to accelerate. Power is the change in energy divided by the change in time, so if you could write it as m*(v1^2-v0^2)/(t1-t0). But then again, that doesnt take in account gear ratios and such...I'm sure some engineer could help me out!

Its 210hp and 325tq the 240hp and 340tq is the lightning motor.

monkei 09-06-2008 03:52 PM

1995 vinH MFI: 210hp@3600 325lb/ft@2800
1995 vinH SFI(CA/e40d/maf): 205hp@3600 330lb/ft@2600
1995 vinR MFI(lightning) 240hp@4200 340lb/ft@3200

This is direct from Chiltons, look at the notes. '95 CA SFI trucks had more torque at a lower RPM and 5 less hp at the same rpm as the MFI trucks of the same year. Hard to compare the lightning stuff because the engine speeds are a decent amount higher. They all have the same compression (8.8:1) but the lightning has a different cam and the gt40 style intake.

i have a 83 bronco with a 351 windsor. i was curious as to if i could take the heads from my 78 351 modified and exchange them with the factory windsor heads? if so, what kinda problems and/or challenges am i faced with?. is it really worth my time and money?

You should have started a new thread man.. it's a legitimate question that's not really related to this old thread.

Installing 351m heads on a windsor block is possible but they're likely to perform worse because '78 was a smog year and these heads will have large combustion chambers so compression will drop. And you're going to have a problem finding an intake to fit, so overall this is a bad idea. If you want more output from the windsor simply put a cam in it and install an aftermarket intake and exhaust, that's the short route to 300hp.

broncoguy83 10-21-2009 01:46 PM

what cam should i run with a edelbrock performer dual intake?

Conanski 10-21-2009 03:56 PM

Comp cams 35-238-3.
