Just traded in my 2017 F350 CCSB w/value pkg on a 2019 F350 CCSB Ultimate. I’m happy with the relatively low depreciation of my 17 over only 20 months of ownership. That’s even with some minor body damage on the truck bed over the taillight.

The 2017 had 20,000 miles on at at trade.
$65,810 MSRP
$61,000 paid for it 2/17 with x-plan plus rebate
$54102 trade in allowance

That’s $345/mo depreciation over the 20 months of ownership. You can’t lease a $66,000 vehicle for 2 years at $345/mo.

The dealer is a fixed price listing dealer. They listed the 2017 for $57,211 so I assume that’s what it sold for. So it sold for only $4,000 less than what I bought it for when new. Does it make sense to buy a 2 year old F350 with 20,000 miles on it for $4,000 less than a brand new truck?

On top of that I bought our 2019 CCSB Ultimate MSRP $74,015 for $65,878 after X-plan Discount, rebates and PCO.

I just ordered a 2019 F-350 Lariat CCLB 4x4 6.7L. I decided to go with minimal BLING. List was $71,529; my price was $65,388 with $500 in rebates from Ford and $500 below invoice pricing and a $750 PCO. The deals I keep hearing about on this forum STUN me and make me feel a bit embarrassed. I thought that I’d done my homework and received a good deal, which I do feel I got. However, I suppose that I could have done better. Well, a gargantuan $3000 PCO would have helped. Maybe after I’ve been a “member of the Ford Family” next time around, they’ll give me one of those SWEET PCO’s.

I have to admit to being stunned when I see a $72,660 MSRP and a discount of $8,785 along with a $750 PCO for a net price of $63,125 (13.12% off MSRP - that’s a SUPER DEAL!). Or a $74,015 MSRP and a net price of $65,878 (10.99% below MSRP). Makes my 8.24% discount off MSRP look paltry by comparison. But hey, paying 8-1/4% below MSRP is better than paying more.

To address the title of this thread, I am pleased to see the Ford SDs holding their value regarding trade-in. We just might join the parade of SD owners who own their trucks until the warranty runs out and then buy a new one. Here’s to the coming 125,000 miles and 5 to 6 years of TROUBLE-FREE ownership. One can, and should, be optimistic and hopeful.

Discounts really depend on the time of year, when the model starts coming out and overall sales. For example I bought my 2017 in November/ December of 2016. There were few incentives, and it was a new model from 2916 into a 2017so discounts were less. I had about 6000 in deductions, including Costco 1000, and they included 2300 in additions to the truck, and where I made out best was on my trade. Mines all in CDN funds. So numbers are significantly higher. List 90,000, subtracting above, also, significant tax difference as only pay on the trade. We have a new additional tax which is going to make my purchase pretty smart, it’s an extra $9000 on the purchase now....

The most I was offered for my 2017 f350 bought in feb with msrp of 74000 was 55000. Perfect condition and 34k on it.

My dealer allowed $54,102 but Carnac and others only offered $49,000.

I was fortunate to fall into the $3,000 PCO. That’s the only reason I shopped and considered trading my 2017 for a 2019.

I bought the same color, same CCSB, but went from Value to Ultimate and added BLIS, LED Headlights, Adaptive Cruise, etc

I need to go to your dealer. I still have a $2k PCO. Sales in my vicinity are not great. The dealer I traded my 2015 to for the truck I have now back in February still has it.

I suspect there is also an art to maximizing resale - buy popular options but stay towards the bottom of a trim level.

I have a hunch that my maxed out Lariat that cost as much as a platinum won’t be fetching the resale of a platinum if I try to trade it in.

I tend to drive cars into the ground so I ignored trade in. But then again my purchasing power is different than when I was driving cars into the ground, so maybe I just haven’t caught up with my own thinking...
