Morimoto SB LED Headlights

Has anyone preordered these or have past experience with Morimoto? I'm pretty darn sure I'm going to give them a try. At 2K, I hope they perform well.

Blwnsmoke 10-08-2018 01:29 PM

Been talked about on here. Do a search, you should be able to find the thread easily.

MNSuper 10-08-2018 01:40 PM

I preordered. I harassed them so much about making them that I felt like I had to go through with my word. They are about $1650 after 10% off right now. I've read they expect to ship to customers in November. I have had their products in the past and have their fog lights now.

Were did you preorder at $1650? Their website is $2000 and I didn't see any 10% off

Blwnsmoke 10-08-2018 02:36 PM

Use code: XBDUTY for 10% off. They claim it won't ever be cheaper than 10% off. Brings it down to $1575. If you don't have the fog lights buy them you won't regret it.

CO Wapiti 10-08-2018 03:37 PM

Thank you MNSuper, I just placed my order. The $1575 is a more palatable price and I can't wait to get them in and installed.
Blwnsmoke, thanks for posting the old thread. I had already read that one but it really didn't offer any good information.
Hopefully those of us who ordered these will be able to post favorable reviews. I'm more interested in the performance aspect of these lights but the great styling is a bonus and will go well with my black custom grill and Fab Fours Bumper. I currently have the Headlight Revolution LED's in my hologen housings and I'm hoping for a big improvement.

How much are the factory lights? This is a lot of money to spend to still be illegal in all 50 states and they look cheap to me.

They are DOT approved so they are legal in all 50 states. Equal to and better than OEM lights. You need to check out Morimoto's reputation and specs before you make stupid comments.

Poncho450 10-08-2018 06:23 PM

Are factory lights a $2k option at order time? No dog in this hunt for me, but I damn sure will never be spending that much on an aftermarket headlight for a truck that gets traded every 2-4 years.

my oem led option was a $1080 dollar option on the lariat in 2017

2manyrides 10-08-2018 07:16 PM

I actually think it’s a $1080 option on top of the Lariat ‘’Ultimate’’ option. That’s an option on top of an option on top of an option.

You are correct

Well I do not know how to break this to you BUT if you read the statement carefully you will see where they are VERY CAREFUL to not state that the lights are DOT compliant and are marked as such. I am very aware of the different requirements required for compliance. Maybe you are or not I have no idea but read and learn here. They are either compliant or not period end of story this was carefully written for people who want to read into what they want lol. :) :) Regardless they still look cheap. Just a FYI my friend I was running Morimoto lights 10 years ago. :)

" Make no mistake, these will produce a much different [better] result than slapping some LED replacement bulbs into your stock housings. Their quad-projector optics meet & exceed all SAE, DOT, and FMVSS108 regulations when aimed properly...and that's easy to do with their integrated vertical/lateral adjusters"

I did read that section carefully. Even OEM lights are not legal if they are aimed improperly so I don’t see what’s so tricky about that statement.
It always kills me on this forum when other folks are excited about getting a new accessory for their SD and others chim in about how stupid it is to spend money on that item. I figure everyone will spend their money how they see fit. My business is paying for these so after tax savings they’re really only going to net out at around $1000 for me. I happen to be excited about these lights and they will be aimed properly to meet any regulations because I care about what oncoming traffic is seeing.
To those of you who say the OEM lights are only a $!080 upgrade, well, I have an XLT value package so I saved a ton of money over the higher trim packages BUT the one thing I wanted was the LED lights for my failing eye sight and I couldn’t piece meal these like some other options. Others have added the OEM lights for around $2000 after their truck purchase and with much labor and trouble along the way. I am excited to spend the money I am spending on something that actually throws a better light pattern than OEM. They have a 5 year warrantee which is comparable to factory as well.
