Field Service Action --18N03

  • FSA Title: DOOR LATCH FREEZING CONCERNS
  • Field Service Action Number: 18N03
Did anyone else receive this notice? I just got it today via FordPass. Kind of sounds like previous posts I've read on here about doors freezing up during really cold weather.

I got it. I also assumed it was related to the other posts I've seen on here. Living in Alabama, though, I'm not too concerned with it right now haha

I just checked FordPass and it's showing the same FSA for me. I'll eventually get around to it.

Me too. Not to much to be concerned about here in Floridah. But I will soon be moving to Colorado. I'll see the dealer once I'm out there.

Yeah, being in North Central TX probably not much of a concern, but I've got family in IL and the winters there can be brutal.

Alaskan_Warbird 09-27-2018 08:33 PM

Yep - I got the same one. Being in Alaska and knowing snow is on the way, I think I'll get right on it. :-wow

I got the notice via Ford Pass as well. bring about 100 miles from Death Valley I will address at my next service as I am not too worried.

I got it too.....had an ‘18 F150 with this issue but the dealer wasn’t able to do anything aside from lubricate since the recall had not extended to the 2018s. It was a real pain but luckily didn’t get too cold here. A lot of people were spraying latches with Amsoil HD metal protectant which helped. It seemed to work for me. Hopefully, this fix actually works.

Weird that my truck didn't have any problem at all last winter. -30 F, -40 F, it didn't care. I'll still take it in, tho. Any word on what the permanent fix actually is?

12Farmer 09-27-2018 11:01 PM

I'm guessing that like before with the F150's and some SD's, the fix will involve installing a water shield inside the door and/or replacing the actuator cable assy.
If someone who has received this particular FSA gets the repair done, please post back with what was done so we'll all know for sure.

Has anyone had this FSA completed yet? Mine is in the shop for it now and after the second day, I called for a status and was told this is the first one they have done for the FSA and that there are about 40 pages of instructions and the FSA calls for all door to be done. Never thought I'd be without the truck this long for some foam tape to be applied.

Alaskan_Warbird 10-19-2018 01:43 PM

I called my dealer about it a couple of weeks ago. The lady told me this will only be applied to my truck if I experience the issue. I chuckled and said, "so I have to actually get locked in my truck and not be able to get out before this'll be addressed?" She laughed it off but but basically said yes. So far, we've still not experienced it.

I just had this done it is very involved and I just have a 2 door. It was a 2 day job because they broke something and had to order a part.

mhoefer 10-19-2018 06:49 PM

My 2017 got this as well on FordPass, however, I have survived 2 winters already with no issue. Hopefully stays that way. I do know there is another guy north of me here who has had extensive issues with his truck, and a buddy here in town with a 2015 150 which has had to have this done.

ndogg3539 10-20-2018 08:13 AM

Yea i think ill wait as well. In South Tx so should not have any issues. Plus i dont want the doors taken apart, my luck it would never be the same lol.
