I am confused by the lift block choice. Are you going to use a 4” and a 2” lift block ?

and if you are swaping springs why use a block at all ? Why not just get the springs that give you the ride height without using a block ?

I was using Stewart_H thread as as a guide. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/5...-finished.html I may be wrong but I believe after replacing all of the springs the rear would sit a bit lower than the front without the new blocks. Since I am gonna be towing around 8K # with a WD hitch I wanted a small rake fwd so its sits level when towing.

Post #28 When I did all my research on this upgrade, I came across a few threads where guys had swapped out their OEM blocks for those tapered blocks listed above. They did the swap because after the spring change, the rear of the Ex sat just a tad lower than the front. Others had different results after their spring swap, reporting a level stance. For the few who reported the rear too low, bigger blocks were used to offset the difference, slightly raising the rear higher than the front.

I know why you use a block I am asking if you ordered a 4” block and a 2” block. Was just confused by the description you posted.

the other part of my comment was meant to mean...... if you are raising the front 1.5” and wanted to remove the block completely then just buy a 5” rear spring. That post you followed the receipt for is 12 years old and was the start of changing Ex ride height.....there are other ways of doing it was my point. Your way still gets the job done though.

It's just a suggestion, but I'd cancel my order with SD Springs and contact Junior at ATS ( @ATS Junior ) because ATS is a supporting vendor here at FTE. As well, Junior posts here and has helped an innumerable amount of users here at FTE.

Junior has helped many a member here (not just in the Ex forum) with their suspension needs.

Stewart

is SD springs the vendor that was was promoting the “excursion weak spring” rhetoric we discussed awhile back ?

if so I’d cancel my order just because they suck }>

Yes it is.

Many years ago I saw where they took the basic internet logic that had formed over the years on all the forums, long before "we" (FTE) had been corrected and enlightened on the caster situation, and they composed a marketing pitch to sell the F250/350 leaf springs as an upgrade for the Excursion by pointing out how weak the Ex springs are, and how upgrading to the truck springs will eliminate the Excursion Steering Wander.

I just looked at their site...it looks like they removed the market-speak that had been on the web page for many years.

Junior has made many, MANY FTE'rs very happy and satisfied. And the after sales customer service he provides is stellar, based on FTE feedback.

I need to replace missing bump stops etc. What does everyone prefer to use and do we have a preferred vendor on here?

Stewart_H 09-12-2018 02:34 PM

I think I got mine from Summit, back in '06, but I'd just as soon get them from Amazon.

I got the OEM replacements found on the 6.0 Excursions when I did mine. Energy Suspension, IIRC.

Stewart

Edit: I can't remember when I replaced my stops because now I remember I cut mine when I did the spring mod, because only one was messed up, and even then it was still serviceable after I trimmed it down.
