auto dimming review mirror

just got my brand new 2019 f-250 xlt preimium. Ordered it back in april, very happy w/ the truck for the 100 miles i've driven it so far. However, a little miffed there is no auto dimming review mirror! Are there any good options for adding this?

The rear privacy glass usually makes the auto dimming feature null and void. I put one of those on my 2000 model back when it was new and it has never dimmed, I have just enjoyed the outside temp and compass function of the unit. Have headlights behind you actually bothered you or, are you just amiss that the feature is not on such a high dollar truck?

Nice rig and welcome to a place where you can find answers to questions you may have about your new truck , and we don't mind helping you spend your money on " must have " mods !!! As toymaster said , the rear glass is pretty dark and negates the use of autodim . :oval

I didn’t even know I had an auto dim reirview mirror for several months until I had a large truck behind me with the rear slider open. With the tint it never activated, my SHO is the same way, once I tinted the windows the mirror hasn’t dimmed since.

i'm probably just more amiss that it doesn't have one for the price of the machine. That and I've always had chevy's and the LT package that is similar to ford's xlt always came standard w/ remote start and apparently an auto dimming mirror. When i ordered this ford i had to pony up extra for the remote start but i knew a little thing like that would bite on resale. I'm going to drive it for a while and see if it really bugs me before i do anything crazy, i felt the need to vent.

Yeah it’s amazing that some things can’t be had without certain trim levels or packages. Would have liked to have gotten a heated steering wheel, maybe even led headlights on mine but it was only available with the Lariat ultimate pkg. that was not available to me with a supercab truck.

Hence the reason I went with a Lariat. After seeing others F-150 XLT trim level options, I just didn't see why they didn't have the same on Super Duty trucks. Radio, steering wheel, dimming mirror, just didn't make sense given the cost. So I waited and got my slightly used Lariat Ultimate for the same as a XLT Premium.

Sure there is....It`s called a F250 Lariat.....Other than that, you might want to look into adding the dimming mirror via FORscan. I`m not sure if it can or has been done before but that`s your cheapest option.

The bloody mirror. We feel the same way. it has heated seats, power pedals, and a MANUAL MIRROR? WHY.
So many people on here say it shouldn't bother me. it bothers me.

Damn beancounters.

acelefty 08-22-2018 08:57 PM

It bothers me too - and I know it shouldn't. My 2013 XLT had it and my 2017 doesn't. There are enough jackholes around here that have lifted trucks with misaligned headlights that I am reminded of the missing auto mirror every couple months. Grrr. That and the missing cup holders in the rear arm rest.

I guess I drive too fast for it to bother me. Heck, I barely use it. Im always looking at the big ears :D

I wish it had dimming side mirrors. I actually like the manual mirror as i think they do a much better job of being darker than the auto rear mirrors.
