"Barn" Find - 1951? Ford F100 in WA State

Hello -

I am new to the board and hope this post will be greeted warmly.

Recently, we 'uncovered' what appears to be a 1951 Ford F100 1952 Ford F1 on a 'remote' family property in Washington State. If it's not a '51 '52, hopefully someone can correct us based on the pictures attached. The vehicle has Oregon plates, but records have been purged by the Oregon DMV. This vehicle was abandoned years ago and has remained outdoors under heavy blackberry brush for probably 30+ years. It is in ROUGH shape. There is no title or other information at this time. Our family isn't interested in a restoration project and so we are hoping to find an interested party or parties to buy this vehicle 'as is." We think it will be of some value to those who would treasure this 'barn' find. Again, no title, not sure if it's a '51 '52 F1 and any buyer(s) would have to apply for registration unless of course they were planning to part it out or use it for parts only to restore another vehicle.

Posting available pictures, happy to discuss further with interested forum members.https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...66252dcd9b.jpg

Hi Kwbaum, welcome to FTE :-X25. I think that script tailgate would be worth a few bucks.

Welcome to the forum! Thanks for sharing your pictures with us. Based on the hood and header trim, and other identifying marks, it appears the truck is a '52 F-1. It also looks like it's already been parted out, and what's left is in pretty sorry shape. The level of interest from the folks here, including me, would depend on location and what you think it's worth. It would take some serious effort to unearth and exhume it from its resting place. Washington is a big place, and from the looks of the shrubbery I'm guessing west side. It certainly doesn't resemble my neighborhood. ;)

Thanks for the information. The vehicle is located in the San Juan Islands, serviced by ferries from Anacortes.

The FORD letters on the upper grill panel signifies it to be a '52 . The wide joint of the lower fender extension panel determine to be a 1/2 ton . It appears a V8 was transplanted into at some time as the emblem on the nose panel of the hood is a 6 cyl emblem .Also it was a 5 star extra cab w/ the options as I see some interior door panels & 5* extra cab side hood moldings but no bright metal windshield molding unless it left with the hood molding .Not much good on that rusted relic . If you could remove the speaker trim & door panels for a better pic maybe I would be interested in them .

I think that old truck picked a fine resting place, Islands are beautiful this time of year. Looks mighty rough. let the blackberrys grow back over RIP

The 6 cylinder emblem on the nose of the hood might be of use to someone. It was a one year only piece and they are not reproduced. The nose piece looks to be OK also.

Except for as badly pitted as it is, that would be a $1000 bill or better from a chrome shop to grind and solder all those pits for rechroming. There's better ones out there.

My question is:
WHERE IS THE BARN?

That's what I was wondering? LOL I think it would have benefited from it. Good luck and I looking forward to more updates!

I hate to say it. But that looks almost like you would have to pay someone to take it.

I agree. Especially when you figure in the cost of the ferry ride to the island for a truck and trailer is $169 alone, plus gas and time to get there. There's not enough salvageable stuff there to make it worth while, imho. Sure, there's a few trinkets left with some level of desirability, but not enough to make it worthwhile for most guys to spend a weekend and $500+ to get them. By the looks of things, that truck will probably crumble if you tried to move it. She's rotted away pretty hard and dug in deep. It may be best just to let her rust in peace.

Cool pictures. I would say the guys are correct, it's probably worth less than zero in it's current location.
Have you ever tried to extract anything from a blackberry bush. Blackberries are worth it, but not much else. Although I just pulled out a Dana 60 from a blackberry bush, but I had a forklift to pull it out.
So, if you have a forklift and want to drag it out and see it closer, but it is probably worth more as scrap....boy I sure hate saying that.
