Interior rehab/build
I finally decided to “freshen up” the interior of my 99, ordered new rubber flooring from ford, new front seat upholstry from leatherseats.com and some laytex tubing to do the door seal mod at the same time. All my parts came in, after unpacking and i specting they all appered to be the correct ones so I set off to get some of this project stated before work today. Pulled the old seats and floors out, started cleaning the cab. I'm curious why you got the 2016 flooring was the older flooring not available? cool project. I bet your truck will feel like new when you're done. I always say the only real difference between a nice vehicle and a crap one is cleanliness. |

I am happy with my dash, did an Ipad install a while back and the 650 lower dash panel. Build was in an old post. I did a bit more before hitting a stopping point for today. Got the new floor in, had to make a few minir cuts to make it fit where the 99 has seatbelts anchored but its in. I noticed that the new floor has molding for rear hvac ducting, so I jumped over to tasca parts and found the ducting realitivly cheap so I ordered those up today, figure while I have it all dissasembled may as well do it right. Looking good. I hate carpet, but always seem to purchase vehicles with it and having to change it over. My new truck has black carpet, a real bummer.
Will that rear AC ducting be functional, or just to fill the holes that are cut in the new floor. I am assuming functional, but is it bolt in, or does some modification to the AC system vents in the dash have to take place? |

DieselBeast, I intend to try and make it work, though how the newer duct work will plumb into the 99 I dont know yet. Will definatly document what happens and how I go about it once the parts arrive. |
Decided to re-upholster the driver seat while I wait for parts to do the floor ducting. I took lots of lictures and tried to make a how to for others. The next few losts are picture heave but hope they are of use to sombody. Here I removed the side trim piece. pull off the knob to the lumbar, just slides off. Unscrew the plastic handle to the seat recline. Remove the screws holding the plastic trim on from the bottom., the two on the side one by lumbar and other behind recline handle. Remove the plastic retaining clip from the back. I found ine finger to hold velcrow to foam and one hand to pull the fabric side up and away worked best. I decided to replace the bottom foam piece on the driver side. The foam is not attached tomthe fram, rather it is simply held on by the upholstery. This takes time and patients. Once its mostly smooth you can set the seat in the hot sun to help get the leather tight |
