Babe the Blue Ox is SICK!
On the freeway today the OX started shaking badly with white smoke pouring out. I have the SD mod valve covers and when I unplug one at a time on each side it dies. At high idle it will stay running but struggles. I was about 4 miles from a Walmart so with my foot on the floor make it there. My side step was covered with oil on the drivers side, about where the CCV mod tube ends. Called guru Aaron and he suggested I run a cylinder contribution test and I came up with 0284, cyl 8 contribution/balance fault. The motor and weather is to hot to work on it tonight. In the morning I'll pull drivers side valve cover and see if #8 injector got unplugged. Any suggestions?
Edit: Walmart is only for a place to park this 5th wheel. Glad I have generators!! |
That sucks Glenn, any way you could of gotten a bad batch of fuel?

Dang it! Which state are you in? Start with the easy stuff first and go from there. |
I guess that's possible but what would cause all the oil coming out of my CCV hose?
|
Maybe you dropped the tip on 8 and holed the piston which is blowing all that oil out the exhaust and ccv.

I was hoping you were gonna say Vancouver,BC

Did it happen all of a sudden or get worse as the day went on? |

Do you think you burnt the Beans HFHV IDM?
|
You could ohm out the injectors from the IDM connector before going into the valve cover. There is a PDF file that is great for this. I can't find the link of coarse but someone may be able to link it.

Is it adjusting for altitude? Are you climbing to altitude for the first time in a while?

Seems flat but it is deceptive. 5000ft at the west end and maybe 800ft at the east end. Long slow climb. New Mexico and/or west Texas is like that too.
I would expect a false altitude reading to affect things across the board. Maybe one injector could hit its limit if it was struggling to keep up. Worth checking if you can scan it. |
What part of Nebraska Glenn? I'm in the NW corner. Holler if you need anything. I have a shop with lots of tools. Just ask Jarrett...LOL
