Hi,
Sorry for posting the pics first....for some reason my text disappeared when I submitted the pictures.

Anyway, I've been lurking for a while since buying my 1987 Pathfinder E350 4WD and have my first need of some help. Does anyone know what the spring-loaded electrical connectors for the power lock silenoid are called? Google is not helping (can only find the 2-pole equivalent for newer Ford vans) and all the parts blowup I check out seem to think that these parts do not exist.

I have a lazy power lock motor in the slider and would like to replace both it and the "passthroughs".

Any help, advice, or a ford part number would be great!

Thank you.

Nobody has had to replace these before?

Thank you very much. At least I know what Ford is calling them now. Google still finds nothing though. What resource did you use to find that information? Sound like I might need to purchase a copy.

You are welcome but I don't think it is of much help. The info came from my Ford service manual. I searched the manual for the words Power Contact Buttons and they only occur 3 times in the text of manual. (I am not proficient in using this manual yet) There is a whole section on testing the power locks and windows though they are separate for the most part. In most cases the manual gives you at least a base part number but I could no find one for the contact buttons. It seems like I have seen them on other vans such as the Areostar vans. My van has one on the left rear back door frame but I have no clue why because I have manual locks.

Here are two great manuals to own if you will be keeping your van...

Here is another example from the manual. Keep in mind this is from a 1988 econoline service manual. They are probably the same though

It is time to call in our parts professional NumberDummy! He can find the exact part number now that we know what we are looking for... I found a critical clue..
The Ford Aerostar does use a similar switch Part # F19Z-14A658-A ... I am going to take a guess here and say that the base call out part number we are looking for is
"14A658"

At EBAY it is being called "Contact Terminal Assembly"

Here the part number is Part # F19Z-14A658-A
FORD 1986/1991 AEROSTAR "CONTACT TERMINAL ASY" (POWER DOOR LOCKS) SINGLE CONTACT
https://www.ebay.com/itm/FORD-1986-1...IAAOSw0vJbMWXJ

Here the part number is E69Z-14A658-B
NOS 1986 87 88 89 90 91 FORD AEROSTAR POWER DOOR LOCK CONTACT TERMINAL
https://www.ebay.com/itm/NOS-1986-87...5.c10#viTabs_0

Notice the "14A658" is the base number

AH! getting closer.. Notice the "F4UZ" F = 1990,,, F4 = 1994,,, I may be wrong but the U is normally a Econoline part. The original part we are looking for should have a "E" at the beginning of the number noting it was designed in 1980's. I would guess E?UZ-14A658-?
Notice this one says "lower contact terminal" My guess is that there is a lower and upper. The lower ending in the letter B while the upper ending in A. It could also be one part for the door pillar and another for the door itself.

F4UZ-14A658-B
https://www.ebay.com/p/OEM-Power-Sli...350/1922936477

A note... the F4UZ-14A658-B could just be an updated part number and will work for your van but we need to make sure..

Maybe NumberDummy will stop by or you could try and PM him... Or start another thread asking for "1987 econoline door lock contact terminal part number help?" if you can not PM NumberDummy.. I don't know if you have to have a certain amount of posts before you can PM someone or not..

I have to run so am out of time to help you search for now....

jacobconroy75 07-04-2018 02:25 PM

Wow. That is super-helpful. I appreciate it very much.

I had better pull one of mine out to make sure the back looks the same before committing...but I'll bet that part will work. It certainly looks the same. Not cheap though. I need at least four of them for the sliding door. There are three more in the rear doors....but they look to be in pretty good shape.

I'll do some more searching now that I have a part number. Thanks again!

annaleigh 07-04-2018 02:46 PM

here are two more
D9UZ-14A658-A
D9UZ-14A658-B

In this case the part is D=1970,,, D9= 1979,,, so this fits from a 1979 on up till what ever year the part was redesigned..

annaleigh 07-04-2018 02:54 PM

So as of now it looks like the part number will probably be the D9UZ... What is the difference in the A and B?
Again NumberDummy is a retired Ford parts manager and is out parts professional here at FTE . He has all the info on just about any part for our older vans... HE can tell us what the A and B is for as well as if there are any other part numbers for the other doors.
Me,,, I just find it challenging to locate older parts! Along the way I learn about my own van I am basically restoring and also come across some good deals on parts for myself..

The D9UZ ones seem to be cheaper around $10

IS it the contact itself or the rubber grommet not holding it in place?

jacobconroy75 07-04-2018 03:02 PM

Well, I didn't realize how easy they would be to remove. Here are some pictures of the internals. I think you have hit the nail on the head. D9UZ-14A658-A is almost certainly the correct part number. It would be nice to know what the A/B signifies...but I think I'm going to order four of these and give it a try. If two don't work...they will probably replace some of the rear-door connectors.

If they work or not, I'll reply back to this post so that future generations will be able to find this info easily...thanks to annaleigh! You are tenacious! :)

Thanks Numberdummy. i ordered 4 of the "A"/upper parts. Once they arrive I'll post back. It doesn't look like there is much difference between the upper and lower ones, but if there is I'll explain it here.

And, in that case, I'll be ordering some "B" parts too. I appreciate it.

jacobconroy75 07-09-2018 01:09 PM

Well, the parts arrived today and I installed them. Numberdummy is correct. There are two part numbers between them all. The upper ones (that seem to have the little white dot on the front) have a grey wire socket in back, and are verified to be D9UZ-14A658-A.

The lowers do not have the white dot, have a black (or dark brown) wire socket in the rear, and should be D9UZ-14A658-B. The wire socket is different, so unless you want to do some cutting and soldering, they do not mix and match.

I just ordered a couple of D9UZ-14A658-B. Once they arrive I'll verify fit and confirm there. No loss here, when the "b"s arrive I will have replaced them all.

Thanks.
