NP205 frame mount issue
I'm restoring my 79 F250 4x4 reg. cab and am changing from C6 to the NP435. The drive line bolts up just fine, including the transmission mount. Problem is, I cannot bolt up the transfer case side mounts to the frame as there is no room for the bushings. If I use the standard bolt holes in the frame, the two plates almost touch. The transmission w/extension came out of a 79 Bronco. Could the transmission mount be not as tall as what is used on the pickup line? Can I just drill new frame holes and bolt as-is?

No idea on that one, but here is a diagram for you. Are you sure you have the correct brackets? If the holes are there just not lining up with your bracket, I'd guess you a different bracket. |
Thanks. The bellhousing, Np435, and tail extension is out of a 79 bronco. With that in mind, is the tail extension and crossmember common between the bronco and pickup? If either of those is different, then that is probably where the issue lies. I have the frame mounts in the same location as before - see pics. There is 3/4" between the mount and the crossmember.

I think they are common between Bronco and truck? I think.. that is like a positive feeling guess. lol No pic came thru...

Not sure If the 435 between the Bronco and pickup is the same but when I changed my '79 f-250 4x4 to a manual I had to move the transfer case mount ahead and the bolt holes were already in the frame. My drive shafts did not work, back had to be lengthened and front shortened.

Not sure on the manual trans, but the automatics have two different lengths on the extension between truck and bronco.

should be the same, i used an NP435 / NP205 combo out of a 79 Bronco for my 78 F250 with no issues at all.
