2018 F150 XLT Dash Warping&Deformed

I recently purchased a 2018 F150 XLT 5.0 less than 3 weeks ago. The truck currently has 150 miles on it as it sits in my garage. A few days after I purchased it I noticed the dash warping on the passenger side and next to both defrost vents. I made the dealer (the owner) aware of it after 13 days of ownership. He handed it over to a GM rather than respond to me. The GM said to bring it into service and start the process. Pics were taken and sent to Ford and they quickly responded and said the dash is currently not covered under the new car warranty at this time. This warping has been going on since 2015 and now they are investigating(???) I have had numerous emails back and forth with the GM who has been with this dealership for 18 years and this is the first time he has ever heard of this issue, same was said from the service department. The dealer currently has 12 F150s XL and XLTs on the lot all with warping dashes. Their other dealership/lot has roughly 20 F150s with the same issue, but they claim they've never seen this before me.
The GM is saying to be patient and wait for a fix which no one knows when and if it will happen. Not to mention this dealer has never replaced a F150 dash.
20 days old with 150 miles, paid cash except for $2000 on credit card (because that's all they would allow).
Do I have any recourse other than lemon law, which requires 4 fix attemps and arbitration.
Should I dispute it on my credit card?
Thanks

Pic please

I just but my 2018 f150 a week ago and have put 200 plus miles on it and have not noticed any warping. Will you post a picture of what you are talking about?

That would excite me...… So I went out and looked at my '17. Black interior, 11/16 build, bought in 7/17, never garaged at dealer or home.

I have the same look, and as far as I can tell, they are symmetrical. It appears to me to be designed that way to allow the defroster to concentrate more air in the center.

Gotta follow this one. If I am correct with my WAG, everyone should have those two expanded openings. Otherwise, we are warped.

Mine is EXACTLY like yours. I was going to ask the dealer about it. I bought minecend of May. Only 3,000 miles on it. It looks like pure cheap crap. My 2016 King Ranch never did it in 50,000 miles.

Well a google search later--not normal, started with the '15s, seems like it's a fight to get it right. Epic thread here on that other site:

No follow up here:

Lots of other hits too, but that first one is the longest running I found in my 90 seconds of looking.

I'm due for service soon and will be asking the question.

Golly.

Just an FYI, on my '17 that piece is actually several pieces, not one big piece.
My Plat has the forward collision lights built into one of the sections.
Might just be an issue on lower trim models.

It was repeatedly mentioned that Lariat models did not have the issue, FWIW. Mine is a lowly XL.

May be a bad assumption on my part, but it seems the fix would be to use the same parts as the upper trim level trucks.

Mine has it too. I will live with it for now because I don't want the rattles. FYI you can't lemon law over this issue, cosmetic is not part of the law.

Ford is correct, they had complaints and even replaced the warped dashes in 2015, but the problem returned. They don’t have a fix, obviously and have decided not to cover the defect in materials on your 2018!

I don’t think all trim levels are doing this, perhaps you could give them the option to replace with a higher trim level or take back their defective vehicle they refuse to warranty?

I do believe it’s an extensive repair to replace the dash, and others had more issues afterwards.

Good luck....

Ford is not the only manufacturer to have a similar problem both my Honda CRV and my Tundra (which the F150 is replacing) have dash issues. The Tundra's whole dash actually shifted down on one side then stopped. The Honda had the vinyl distort over the air bags. The good news I didn't even notice it after a few months.

I agree, the best fix is probably to ask the Ford dealer to replace that panel with one from a Lariat (or higher). Even if Ford will only allow them to replace it with another XLT panel....I'd ask the dealer to sell me that Lariat trim piece at their cost, and have them install it rather than the XLT piece (because I would assume it's the only way to keep it from reoccurring).

It affects market value, which is a covered item in the lemon law of my state.

Here is another one with this problem. I would of never of noticed it. I've washed and cleaned the windshield at least 20 times and never noticed it. Bazaar !
