Injector O-rings bad

What does this pic tell you. Motocraft orings after 5000 miles.

Continuous blue smoke was the reason the the orings change to no avail.

What does "prints bad" mean?

I think it means that auto-type converted 'O rings' to 'prints' and he didn't catch it.

Good catch. I'm not quite up on Autotype translation yet... it's a tough language to master.

One possibility is not hot-torquing the injector hold-down bolts, and one or more worked loose. Did you get obnoxious knock out of the engine?

The O rings look just like what happens when one is stingy on the oil during install. I'm not saying this is the case here, but I'll share that my injectors get an oil bath before install. Don't everybody all perv out on me now.

Well...now that you mention it...the visual is kind of gruesome.

I thought we lathered them pretty well during install but we didn't hot torque. I will for the next round.

Thanks.

Also be sure to do a good cleaning of the brass cups inside the head. I used a greenie scrubbing pad wrapped around a wire brush chucked in my cordless drill to do this. You don't need to reach bottom, only the areas where the o-rings seal and everything above them. Drop a dime into the cup to keep any debris from falling through the injector hole into the cylinder, then vacuum everything out. Cleanliness is next to not doing this thing again-ness.

And, as Tug would say,....make sure to "plumb" your injectors before zip'n it up...:-X21(straight edge them true)
