Sacramento Vintage Ford
 

Today,I went to Sacramento Vintage Ford, here in the Sacramento, CA area, to buy some parts for my 51 F1.
I was aware that last December (2017), they had moved to a new location and I had a good experience buying some parts back in January (2018), even though they were still in transition with the move. I decided to drive there today as I am cheap and didn't want to pay shipping and I had trouble finding a couple of parts on their web site. I expected to have to order most of the parts that I wanted, but was surprised to find they stocked all of the parts I wanted except one. They were very friendly and helpful and agreed to send my backordered part to me for $3.

They explained that they decided that they no longer needed their 20,000 sq ft showroom and relocated to a smaller building so they could enlarge their inventory.

All in all, I was very impressed with their smaller showroom and new location. Their staff is friendly and very helpful. In this world of free shipping, I hate to buy from a company that charges for shipping, but they are competitive with Mid-Fifty and Dennis Carpenter in regards to shipping costs.

So, I encourage you all to consider them when shopping for Ford parts. My experience was positive.

Their showroom was almost a museum in some ways, and I attended one of their Friday night shows/parties, very impressive. I too have had nothing but good luck with them.

Not too hard to be competative with mid fifty's shipping just double the part cost .

They have always been very helpful to me. It was the only Ford shop I visited when I was in California last year just before they moved premises. They don't have the best website or online ordering but they are good people to deal with. I think since we drive old trucks we expect good ol' fashioned service.

One of the sales ladies knows me by voice recognition. Just sayin'.

I'll admit I'm as bad as anyone else when it comes to paying for extra charges. We all want to get the best deal possible. But we also need to remember there's really no such thing as "free shipping." Trucking and delivery companies don't work for free. It's either built into the price, or the company has to eat it at a reduced profit margin, which I'm sure is not large on old truck parts. Bigger companies who ship hundreds or thousands of packages a day can negotiate terms with shippers to get a better deal, and the bigger the company, the better the deal they can demand. Just look at Amazon, who insist the USPS deliver their stuff on Sunday, in certain cases, just to keep their business. So while it's easy to say I'm not shopping at 'mom and pop auto parts' anymore because they have to pass along the cost to deliver my goods, we also can't complain when all that's left to deal with is the moron-no-nothing-never-seen-a-truck-in-their-life-probably-doesn't-even-drive-lives-in-mom's-basement order taker at ABC parts. Customer service does also come with a price. Just sayin'. :)

I’ve visited Mid Fifty’s store. It’s in the Arizona desert and not near any major metropolitan areas. I do not know of any major freight or UPS/FedEx depots nearby. Therefore their shipping cost may be higher since they do not have the volume to negotiate cheaper shipping rates. For items shipped by freight by them, I have to go to Phoenix or Flagstaff as Prescott does not have a trucking depot. I, therefore, drive to their store when ordering large items like my big back window.

I have purchased parts in the past by ordering in advance of car/vendor shows near me. You get the enjoyment of the car show and you pick up the parts without having to pay shipping.

I do not have the skills to fabricate parts like many on this forum. However, I remain thankful for those vendors that do have parts that keep our old iron alive; even if the cost may be a bit lofty.

I have always had great experiences dealing with Sac. Vintage. Friendly, quality, parts, and was also known by voice when Jerry (female) answered the phone. I haven't had a need to buy from them in a while, but it sounds as if they are still the same, great supplier..
