Max RPMs in Park
Can you all answer an easy question. What is the max RPMs you can rev your motor to while it is in park. I can only get it to 4200rpm. I did check my rev limit settings in my SCT programer it is set to 5400 RPMs. Another odd issue is when I stab the throttle at 3000 RPMs the motor stumbles then revs to about 4200 RPMs. I did check for air leaks and cleaned the MASS air sensor, no codes. Plugs were replaced 7000 miles ago.

Seems like an odd request... i dont know anything abiut SCT but I had a 2000 Ford Contour that would only rev to 3,000 in Park/Neutral. That was factory electronics. It would go to over 6,000 when in Drive. |
What year vehicle?

Agree with Im50 here. Many vehicles these days have a hard limit on revs in park compared to revs in drive. Not sure exactly what this is for, but I'd imagine to keep people from dropping their tranny in gear at 6K and obliterating things.

What is the reason? Unloaded high RPM does bad things. Dont ask how I know, but I was a teenager once.... When driving in a set gear, (1 or 2) can you get the rpm up without shifting?
