Water Pump Pulley
While trying to fix my engine I had half of it torn apart, I figured that since the cooling system was already drained and full of gunk I would take this time to replace the water pump. I ordered a new one off of Summit checking first to see that it would fit my engine. When I got it it looked a little different. My original pump had a pressed on pulley but the new one had a hub to bolt a pulley onto. I consulted the Parts manual and found out that the 223 engine had a water pump with a hub and the 215 had a pressed on pulley. So my old 223 had a 215 water pump, that is fine They look to be the same pump just different pulleys. But now I am trying to find a pulley that will fit the new pump. After some measuring and searching, the old water pump had a ~4.6 diameter pulley but all of the pulleys I find online are in the 6+ in diameter.
What diameter pulley should I be looking for? What ratio/speed should the water pump be spinning at? |

Some 215/223 I-6's use the same water pump, some do not.

I checked Obsolete Reliable Parts but could not find the part using their search system. Is there another source or equivalent part that will bolt onto the hub?

NumberDummy, sorry I am being a little slow. Do you mean that any of those pulleys listed in the 8509 section will work. :-huh
I just need to pick one that will give me the desired ratio with the crank? https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...a4bc444b85.jpg |
