Sport mode

What do you guys think of the Sport mode on the Sport package. I've run it a couple times and it's like having a programmer at the push of a button and really kicks you in the pants! And is it just an option with the ecoboost?

Have it on my 5.0, makes truck very fun to drive!

My wife’s Lincoln, my F150, and a coworkers Explorer all have it. I don’t know if it’s on all newer Ford/Lincoln vehicles, but it seems like it might be.

It is definitely fun!

They must have adjusted the fuel mixture, ignition timing and the transmission shifting pattern. The Sport mode certainly has some getup and go when you get into it.

Sure does. More than my programmer did in my last ecoboost .

My 2016 F150 Lariat with the 5.0 has it.

I love it. It’s my Fun Friday Mode when I leave work

It's all in the transmission. You can duplicate it when using manual mode.

I have it in my 5.0 XLT. I use it 95% of the time. I feel it shifts much more like I would shift a manual. I don't like to be driving 45 mph and the truck is in 5th/6th gear.

Yup, Sport Mode was one of the pleasant surprises when I got my '15 5.0.

I just tried it for the first time yesterday, and yeah I like it too. I like the downshifts to help hold speed when you're coming down hills, but the low end throttle response feels a little touchy, I will have to drive it more. Otherwise, geez it's like a different animal.

The sport mode disables a lot of the torque management restrictions as found in the other settings. This is what gives you the increased sense of power. Ford uses torque management heavily these days.

Do the '18's come with this option?

Yes, and more I believe w/the 10 speed.

Midnightmoon 05-11-2018 10:31 AM

I haven't tried it in mine yet. Maybe this weekend.
