Cowl Lacing/Hood Seal what are the original fastners, nails, screws? Should I use them?
 

Starting to install a Cowl Lacing Kit, the rubber seal that is mounted to the top of the cowl to seal/keep the rear of the hood from rattling.
Are the fasteners for the original seal ribbed nails? They have a thin flat had like a nail, no slot or Philips like the screws provided with the repo.
Should I just poke small holes in the new seal in the correct spots and slip it onto the original fasteners?
I looks like it could be a pain to get the old fasteners out.

nails I pulled mine out with a pair of end nippers and it worked good for me also some find sheet metal screws to put the strip back down
but I used nails it was just to cool not to and you can say some of my truck was nailed together

I found that when I pulled the nails I then had to tap the metal around the holes flat. Then nails that came with my lacing were smaller than the originals.
I ended up using screws to install the new lacing.

Got it done.
I actually decided to keep the original nails. I used a punch to make small holes in the new seal in the right spots and slipped, pushed, pried to seal over the nail heads. Added a little weatherstrip sealer in a few spots too. Also put a little rust converter on each nail before putting the new seal on, then a little black paint on the nail head last.
