FI 460 swap

I have a 1989 F-150 SB with a 5.0 in it. I am wondering what would be involved in swapping in a fuel-injected 460. I am going to take my time on this project because I want it to be right. Emissions won't be an issue as it will see only limited street/track time. Is fuel injection worth the trouble, or should I go carbureted? What computer issues wil I have? Is there any other MAJOR issues involved? Any help is GREATLY appreciated!!

Non-Expert Opinion (Educated Guess)

Since you are going from EFI (5.0) to EFI (7.5) it will be a bit easier than if you had an older carbed truck like my 86. By this I mean you already have an intank fuel pump that may deiver enough fuel pressure (not sure though). Seems to me beefier springs are in order for the front to handle the increased weight. Also the SB tranny won't mate to the 460 EFI and likely would not handle the added torque anyway, so you need a tranny swap also. Motor mounts repositioned maybe and a completely different forward exhaust arangement and Oh Yeah, the biggy (in difficulty), wire harness swap or hack and correct ECU. Not an easy swap.

The wiring harness isn't than different actually, not enough to make it worthwhile to yank it all out and start over. The EEC connector will be the same and it comes apart to facilitate moving wires around, you definitely need a 460 EEC though. The complete powertyrain has to be swapped though the 8.8 could be upgraded to handle the TQ.
