new clutch will not disengage
 

So I had my flywheel resurfaced, bought a new clutch kit installed it as the directions explained with one side facing the engine and the other facing trans. New throw out bearing also. I start my truck and I cannot shift into gear. Clutch pedal feels very loose. I feel some resistance when it gets close to the floor. Springs are all intact and working. I remove the spring on the clutch fork and I can move it back and forth with no resistance, it comes to a dead stop back and forth. I removed the rubber dust shield and I can see the clutch bearing moving with the fork. It almost seems like there is too much give and the throw out bearing is not being pushed far enough to disengage the clutch. The throw out bearing is the same size as the old one. But like I said the fork will not go any further. Any suggestions on what I can do or check for? This is a duralast clutch that I got at autozone.

My truck is a 1966 f100 240 inline 6 freshly rebuilt and started for the first time yesterday.

You need to adjust the clutch so the peddle only has about an inch or less of play.

Does this require removing the tranny?

Clutch adjusted by clutch adjustment rod w/pointed extension (7521) that attaches to clutch equalizer (Z) bar (7528), then to clutch fork (7515).

The extension is actually a separate part that slips over the threads of the rod, then is double nutted in place. Adjusting the nuts adjusts the clutch.

number dummy, that was it! Thank you sir i appreciate that. That extension was cover in so much grime and oil that i couldn't even see the nut.
