fuel pump on flat head

the fuel pump is not working when I removeD the fuel pump so the rod is still in the engine and when I turn it over the rod doesn't seam to move how much is it supposed to move and also it was a little bent. does the rod use the cam shaft to move?

Total movement on the pushrod is only 0.200". The pushrod should be perfectly straight. It rides on an eccentric on the camshaft.

You might want to take a look at this thread. It might help you figure out what is happening.

I took a couple pics of the rod I measure it sticks out about 2 1/4" from face to top of rod but when I crank over the engine the rods doesn't go up or down it's stationary. I even put a drift pin which is smaller od in to the hole and it's stationary also is the cam lobe broken or something else.

I wonder if your cam gear has broken? Does the engine run if you splash some gas down the carb? Can you see valves moving through the fuel pump hole?

I will try tonight but I know the distributor is turning
