1960 ford f100 4bt swap
Okay so I bought a 1960 ford f100 223 I am trying to build/restore/bring back to life im a am new to this world I am 19 and have mildly built three cars all import a Bmw and a 350z I wanted to try something in the American line and decided I really like these and wanted to learn more. Right now Im kinda already stuck on some things to be honest
at the moment I am disassembly the front end pulling motor and that sorta thing rear end beds just sitting there not attached on so thats a matter of picking it up when I need to work back there I am trying to figure out what way to go with the suspension at the moment I have heard of the crown vic front end swaps keep budget friendly in mind as well please so I would gladly appreciate as much help as i can receive I plan on swapping a 4bt into it as well so far plan is the get the mounting custom done because I have not found any for sale yet that I can just weld on yes I have access to welding my uncle is a fabricator so he's helping with this. I have a lot more stuff to ask but as those things come I will ask away but wouldn't like to start with it all Pretty much just trying to get suspension together to then be able to do a test fit of mounting for the motor then be able to paint the hole frame and yeah as that goeshttps://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...15b8c1219a.jpg this is the truck! pretty clean huh? |
How much does a 4BT weigh? Will a crown vic suspension be able to handle the weight? Is that a cummins dodge in the background? Drop the Ford body on that frame and scrap the dodge body!!

Seems like about 750# fully dressed IIRC. I helped a friend put one in a 39 IH 1/2 ton and the original springs held it up just fine.

What is a 4bt?, & yes, the Crown Vic will hold it up just fine. I'm assuming a 4bt is a diesel and if you need stiffer springs, you can install police interceptor springs.

Jsantos99, Mornin' I'm in the process of installing the CV ifs on my '60 f100 as we speak. A few more holes in the frame rails & she'll be nearly done! ( 2009 ifs) That's a fine lookin' '60! Wish my sheet metal was as straight as yours. A few dings here & there!

do you have a thread for it? And what are you going to do with the rear? |
I’ve seen them like that! And they look great just with the look I’m tryinh to get I want to keep it all the same height so I might just have to flip the rear end so I can get it all at the same height! |

I just went out & measured & the front is 13 1/2 " to the bumper, the rear is 21" to the bed. 7 1/2" rake! Not too much, not too little.

I plan on doing the same thing to my '58 a little 4bt and want to lay from with some bags. Keep this thread alive or start a build thread when you get cracking on it, would love to see how you do it. Right now im in the process of fixing all my New York rust on the truck then its on to suspension and then motor.
