My guess it’s the vacuum pump. It’s been my experience they get loose. It has a molded gasket that will reseal if the pump is tightened.

I agree with the vacuum pump. While your at it I would change that serpentine belt as well.

Thanks for the replies, How much do you think ford will charge to do it?

This should be covered with the 5 year/100K engine warranty if you are still within that time frame.

Service advisor should be able to give you a quote if you tell him the part that needs attention.

Its past 5yrs but under 100k. I think ill be on the hook for it. Oh well. I was afraid it might be crank case seal.

2011 is out of warranty. So it'll be your dime.

the 2011s frequently had failures of the Turbo Water and Oil connectors. So see if it's coming all the way down from the turbo area. Which usually brings it down the back of the block passenger side. Sorry I didn't look at your photos close enough to determine where it's dripping down.

If that is your problem. It's a $25 dollar connector for the Oil and same for the Coolant plus gaskets etc to remove and replace the turbo. $150-$200 if you do it yourself and $600-$800 if the dealership does it at going rates.

Called it on the vacuum pump, for whatever reason the 4 bolts that hold it in place got loose. 2 fell out. I getting my pants pulled down over the price but i don't have time to deal with it. Nor do I have the space to do it right now. In the process of building a shop amongst other things. Should have the truck back in two days.

What exactly is the breakdown on the parts and the labour?

DeeDubz 03-26-2018 10:17 PM

It was 124 to diagnose. Wife told me that its gonna be over 500 with parts and labor. I wish I had the time and space to fix it on my own but I have too many other things going on.

Just got off the phone with ford, my trucks done. They asked me If I ever had a problem with the trucking going into fail safe mode, I told them its never happened. He said the tech noticed an after market module.... I sort figured he was going there. Never had a problem with the mode until i take it to the dealer. I should have taken it off before I left but I was in a hurry. I'll take a look at it in the next couple of days. What you guys think? The dealer messing with my truck or blowing smoke?

DeeDubz 03-27-2018 07:30 PM

Picked up the truck, Runs just like it did before.... I would say they really really suck at costumer service. I doubt I'll be going there again. If I wasn't so busy I'd do it on my own if my shop was built.

senix 03-27-2018 07:37 PM

After Market Module would have nothing to do with a vacuum pump with loose bolts.

Sounds like they were looking for more work in the future, curtesy of your wallet.

DeeDubz 03-27-2018 07:43 PM

yea I figured. They got enough of it today.

kper05 03-28-2018 01:55 AM

I agree with senix, four bolts known to become loose on some 2011's have nothing to do with a third party computer module.

Ouch on the price. m-chan68 is responsible for sending me in the right direction when mine was leaking last year and my truck is stock. All four bolts were loose. I didn't replace the gasket, simply tightened the bolts (probably not "best practice"). I think I only removed the air intake and half the time was spent getting my arm wedged in there and then working to remove my arm for the lower left bolt.
