1979 ford f700 370 4V cal truck

Hi I have a 1979 ford f700 with the 370 4V. It is a California truck and i need to know where the vacuum lines go. Need to smog this thing. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Welcome to FTE.

Are there capped or plugged vacuum lines all over?

Is there a sticker on the core support or on the underside of the hood?

A sticker on the valve cover? The basic emissions sticker will confirm, if you have not already, CA vs. 48 state emissions.

Any evidence of other tampering?

CA law says the seller is supposed to smog, so good luck with this.

The vacuum diagram is in the shop manual and several folks have those, so stand by.

Thanks. Unfortunately there are no stickers anywhere. I am sure it is a california truck. All the smog stuff is there I just need to know how to run the vacuum lines to the switch on the valve cover and then to the EGR. I think the carb only has two jets one above and one below. There is one port straight off the manifold. I had the thing rebuilt years ago and I got it back with no line to the EGR. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Is it a CA truck?

Look on the 3rd line-far right of the Warranty Plate, riveted to the left door face below the latch for the DSO code. Post what it is.

Threads merged. This is a tough one to get answers on apparently. There has got to be a vacuum diagram in the shop manual for this thing. Stand by now that you have the DSO posted.

Every time you post it brings the thread to the top, so a new thread is not needed to keep the question up at eye level.

52 = Dallas TX Ford District Sales Office, where the original selling dealer ordered the truck from.

Why is the 370 4V from CA? DSO would be 71 (Los Angeles) or 72 (San Jose).

You will need a shop manual, or at least a vacuum diagram. I have neither. Try: faxonautolit.com

This 1979 F700 resides in CA, but this truck (DSO 52) was ordered from the Dallas TX Ford District Sales Office. So it arrived here in CA at some point after it was sold new.

Since this truck was not sold new in CA.. it will have a 49 state vacuum routing. Some sold new in CA trucks have different emission parts than were used in the 49 states.

What I would do is say nothing about its origin and take it to a smog station and have it tested. There is no charge if it doesn't pass and usually the smog station will tell you why it didn't pass.

Posts merged again.

How long has the truck been in CA? Any record of prior registration?

It was a Hertz truck. I guess I will buy the shop manual, thanks Number Duumy!
