Changing fuel filter
I just change fuel filters. I ve primed the system the same way I did as the last time I changed filters. I had the truck running then didn’t drive it for a couple of days. Today I went to drive it and it kept turning over but didn’t want to crank. Finally I got it start and drove it around. It runs fine but every time I go to crank it it just turns over and over then cranks. I keep hearing a gurgling noise coming from where the filter housing is. I busted the old filter housing so I bought a new which is shorter than the oem one. I don’t know if that has anything to do with it or not. F250 6.7 powerstroke 2016 |
Go buy an OEM one...

One of the times I changed mine I didn't get the bowl on all the way. I primed it as I should have but when I went to start it the engine cranked for an excessive time before finally catching. After driving a while I got the dash message "Low Fuel Pressure" and heard the gurgling sound. That was cured when I tightened up the bowl all the way. No issues since, been a few months.
I have never heard of a aftermarket "shorter housing" so I have no idea if that is the issue. If nothing else has changed aside from the short housing you should get the OEM and see if that cures whats ailing your truck. |
getting air in there somewhere. I'd think the aftermarket bowl is to blame as well.

Exactly as I suspected. You have the cap for 2011 to 2015 models. You need to install the correct cap, using the part number provided by my other post above.

The part number in the above image is indeed the correct part number for a 2016 truck. It's possible the OP ordered the correct part number but was given the wrong part. It's also possible this site below does not have the latest information on the 2016 part number.
https://parts.autonationfordwhitebea...OC1kaWVzZWw%3D https://s20.postimg.org/aweo5veu5/Fuel.Cap.png To add more confusion to the crazy part numbers for this item. I had my local Ford Parts Distribution Center order a spare cap for my 2016. My sales rep used my VIN to order the part. Part number on the box is GC3Z-9G270-A. Actual Part # stamped on the bottom of the cap is Bowl FC44-9G270 with a manufacture date of 6/16. Compared this to my factory cap, it is identical in every way. |
