Ordering tomorrow what am I screwing up
Will be a daily driver and pulling a small 5th wheel(1400 pin weight). Southern Appalachains
F250 CCSB 4X4 6.2 STX package Camper Package 5th wheel prep Trailer Brake Controller Sync 3 Ultimate Camera Upfitter Switches Remote Start 110V outlet metallic I'm 50-50 on, probably leaning against 4.30 gears Blind Spot Monitoring (heard the range was small) Tailgate Step (I'm 6-3, don't want something else that can break) Upgrading to 350 (likely won't need it but minimal price difference) Planning on aftermarket bedliner + running boards thanks for any comments |
Get the 4.30 gears. The drop in mileage is not that significant. |

This, trust me get the 4.30's I would go F-350 as weight rating is higher and you get the trusted Torqueshift transmissions vs the F-250's Torqueshift G trans. There is not much if any price difference between a STX and XLT, you loose lot in resell as a XLT is worth a lot more then a XL. Build and price it both ways, I didn't believe it either. |
The F350 CC 4x4 with 3.73:1 gear tows 12.3k lbs. Going to the 4.30:1 gets you to 15k lbs. You also get a big boost in GCWR with the 4:30s.

Ditto the above plus get the tailgate step. These things are TALL. |
Yep, get the F-340, 4.30s, and Tailgate step. I can hardly get into the bed of mine. Stupid tall. had to lift my 5th wheel tall.
|
Definitely don't skimp on tailgate step. Im 6'2 I had it on my 2015 f250, didn't on my 17' what a huge mistake. Regret it everytime I climb up into this big beyotch.

I really like the tailgate step
and am glad I got Bliss love my amp running boards and Line-x I think you have it covered I also ordered the ultimate camera and camper package, I like it. the 350 was an extra $1200 I thought, wasn't minimal to me. with the camper package the only difference is the number 2 instead of 3 and the door sticker. I know the sticker weenies will throw a fit but we all know its the same truck. The 350 gets the newer axle, but that 250s sterling axle has been working like a champ in the 350s for a lot of years. The only other thing I would add is the elocker and maybe the skid plates. FX4 gets this but its more to get the fx4 package it makes you upgrade the tires also. |
You are screwing up by ordering tomorrow, and not waiting one more week to order a 2019 instead of a 2018.

My fear is June delivery vs September or worse on a 2019. I also want to take advantage of the STX incentive going right now. |
In case anyone is interested I did the math again. I qualify for A plan.
What I expect to pay before extra incentives from ford. Everything optioned the same with minor tweaks (power mirrors in XLT might be only one) F250 STX 42363 F350 STX 43796 F250 XLT 46071 250 STX with incentives and trade in, 38863 350 STX with incentives and trade in, 40296 250 XLT with incentives and trade in, 44571 |

I would get the factory sprayed in bedliner, the 4.30 gears, and for sure the tailgate step. I just ordered last Monday and just changed my order this morning on the gearing after doing a lot of research on it!

Skip just the camper package.. and add the snowplow/camper package.
