Pulling the 5.4 soon

Greetings,
Having built the replacement 5.4 with all the goodies, I now need to pull the existing motor, a 5.4 as well. I'm curious where to hook the chains to that would be strong enough to hold the motor.

Thanks

I normally bolt it to the block where the alternator bolts up and to the back of the cylinder head. It works pretty good but I always pull the intake manifold before pulling the engine.

Thanks a bunch. Just using expensive TrickFlow heads and don't want to break anything. Should be ok.

Oh man, trick flow heads! Post some info up about this build. You’ve got my interest lol. What are you using for cams, did you get trick flow spec’d cams?

SuperDutyScaler 02-21-2018 06:44 PM

You realize the stock i take can't flow for nothing right? Ive been wanting to do this type of work th my 5.4 but unless you go full custom built intake its pointless

You can use any 4.6 2v intake that you want too, if you use the 5.4 adapter plates. The edelbrock 4.6 intake works really well on the 5.4.

X2

When the time comes to rebuild my 5.4L 2V engine, I'd love to try TFS 185 heads, custom "truck" cams and a 7.3L turbocharger AKA Roadkill Rotsun 5.0 Ford style...lol

Yes maybe in a f150, but in a super duty platform you need low end power not 5k up power

Yes, I should have just bought a Raptor and called it a day. It's definitely my forever truck.
