Window Tinting by State

I was looking into running tint on my side windows. I bought a set of limo tint one piece glass side windows at a swap meet. Since I want to take my 56 out of Missouri I wanted to see what the laws were in states I might travel.
Found this site and thought I’d share. https://www.raynofilm.com/blog/autom...s-by-state#top

I don't think that a state, other than the one that your truck is registered in, has any jurisdiction with regard to citing you for a violation of their state laws on tint. That said, the chart that you posted is very eye-opening...the laws for tint run the full gamut from none to pitch black. I would have never guessed that this was the case.

I’m not sure, but I think you’ve got to meet the state requirements you’re traveling through.
I base this on:
Folks that jacked up their 4X4s use to get ticketed coming in to Illinois from Kentucky.
They use to check trailer brakes in some states where others trailer brakes were not required.
Another example is talking on a mobile device. Some states allow it others will ticket you.
I read that NY would ticket drivers for tint but A CA HPD said they wouldn’t.

In 09 I bought a brand new truck that had dealer installed tint on all the windows, here in Texas. I got pulled over the first week I had it and got a ticket because the dealer failed to put a tag on the window describing the tint. I had to go to the dealer and they got the tags about two weeks later, then had to go to court and prove that I had them with a letter from the dealer. They get a little carried away down here about tint. Not sure what they do with out of state darker than 25% tint.

An Arkansas state trooper told us, at my son's yellow ribbon ceremony when he came back from Iraq, that according to state law, all tint applied to car windows here has to have a label or sticker here also. It looks like by the chart that Arkansas doesn't allow much tint. I had my windshield cut from tinted glass, it has a very slight tint, so I hope it is not a problem.

I bought a car out of Tampa Florida that had this wonderful dark tint....perfect for Texas..kept it so cool. Nope... I got pulled over. They have some Tint samples that they put up against your window..if it's darker than that you get a ticket. They are especially picky about the front side windows..they want to see your hands.
