Hood Ornament

Quick question, what determines some of our trucks having a V8 vs. a lighting bolt hood ornament?

My truck came from Ford with a V8 but has the lighting bolt...

Your hood emblem is correct. Before 1965, it was THE hood emblem.

In 1965, with the introduction of the 352, the V8s had the new V8 emblem.
