which wheel setup with 37" tires and a carli 2.5 pintop
 

Hi all in a bit of a internal conflict of what wheel combo works best so wanted to put some feelers out there to see what people are running and like best. I am looking at 37" tires (probably Ridge Grapplers in 12.5 width), the question is do I run a 18X9" wheel with either a 18mm or -12mm offset or a 20X9" wheel in a 18mm or 0mm off-set. Currently I have the stock 20" wheels and they do ride firm (still stock PSI), but wondering how soft the 18" wheels or 20" wheels would be with a 37" tire as I don't like a real squishy ride as I do drive my truck like a sports car sometimes. Wheels I am looking at are Method Racing 305 NV, 306/309 Grid/Mesh(don't really see a difference), or 310 Con 6. For the offset it has been recommended to be at 0 by CJC and Carli, I do have a KR so I have a little extra fender width but nothing to make a huge difference.

Don't run 18" wheels if you plan on driving your truck like a sports car. The extra sidewall will cause the truck to list much more when turning. Go with 20" and air down to 55psi you will feel the ride improve greatly. You will still be adding ~1.5 inches of sidewall which will also help.

I would go w 0 offset, but even that may stick out a bit. I also plan on running fenders on mine so I can fit 10" wides

Carli's systems are specifically designed with either a 17" or 18" inch wheel and 35" or 37" tires (I believe 12.50" wide, E rated). With the amount of engineering that goes into their systems, I wouldn't deviate from their recommendations. Lastly, if you want to drive your truck like a sports car, then you should have bought a sports car...

I don't believe the diameter difference between 18s and 20s will affect the truck in any way other than hardcore offroading... They definitely design the kits to tackle the most extreme situations which would constitute 18s, but there would be no difference on pavement running 20s (just looks).

Actually the OEM 20's look great with 37's and the Carli kit. And it seems like taller, skinnier tires are easier to find with 20's. The 17's ride better, wheel way better. I didn't vote.

wheels on bottom left were out of stock/backordered when i was looking last November. Then i picked another and they were back ordered. might check stock by actually calling and asking the vendor if they have them in stock before you get your hopes up after finally deciding on a wheel to find out its not available.

I say 18x9 +18mm, but theres only one load range e available in a 37 and its damned near $500 per tire.....thats why i went with a 20.

I would continue running the stock wheels but they are to far tucked in for my liking, and one side has already started rubbing the new brake line so I want the wheels moved out a bit to buy me some room.

Well I do live in near the mountains so hard not to drive it like a sports car, however if i want to drive a sports car (which is my DD) I pull it out of the garage :-) .

That's the wheel I was looking at most bc if the two tone, and tirerack says they have the wheels but will take 2 weeks. Also you are right on the tires they are not cheap, found a few places letting them go for around $400. But you do bring up a good point, in the future it might be easier to find E ratings in a 20" than an 18" wheel but I still think the market is split between the two so E rating isn't super rare in either, just might be more expensive.

I had the same dilema, i wanted to keep my stock 18" wheels, and run spacers, but i dont like spacers. Same thing with factory platinum wheels, need spacers...

I loved that two tone wheel, it matched my magnetic strip at bottom and closely resembled my factory 18's. First it was in stock, then it was back ordered a few weeks, then it turned into two months. I smelled a skunk and changed my mind.

So that led me to aftermarket. 4th time was the charm for finally settling on a wheel to find that it is in stock. I settled on method "the standard" 20x9 +18mm with 37x12.50 r/ts

All i could find in a 37x12.50ish tire in a 65 psi E rated 18 was nitto ridge grappler and the pro comps. So off to 20's i went. Good thing was i kept the exact same amount of sidewall i had with my factory 18's and 285-75R18's (35x11.50)

I tried to match the two tone but bronze wheels and the caribu bottom on the KR just looks really funny, at least in my renderings. Hoping if I do the gray and black that it will work well, but sill considering the Con 6 because of the off set.

After talking with the tire shop and looking at my clearances with the new breaklines the 20" wheel looks to clear more things that currently are causing issues, but the off-set too will help.

Now its the choice between the Toyo RT or Nitto Ridge grappler, tire guy can get me the Toyo for $50 cheaper per so that's a decent savings. Now just worried what works best in snow and ice as thats normally the pitfall i find and what's caused previous vehicles to slide down hills uncontrollably.

I am happy with the fitment of my wheels/tires and they don't stick out.

You're running a 35 right?

so I might have found a happy medium thanks to CJC, turns out Fuel makes a replica of the Method wheel but in a +1 off set. This might check all the boxes of right off set, size, and style.
