Limited Slip

Does anybody know if someone makes an aftermarket limited slip for the 2017 10.5 Sterling axle? I looked at Eaton Detroit Trutrac but on their website it only went to 2012. Are the rear axles the same? Reason I'm asking is I have looked at a couple of used 2017s but they don't have the E-locker. And I would prefer a manual shift 4x4 instead of ESOF. Its very hard to find one that is still manual shift with an E-locker. Thanks.

Call your local dealer and see if a 2016 factory limited slip case will work. Otherwise, you may have to wait for the aftermarket to catch up.

I'm pretty sure that Truetrac will work. I don't know of anything that has changed since then. Any 35 spline Truetrac should be GTG. Call Randy's. I'll bet it's just a bad website list.

You can also try a Detroit Locker, or Yukon Locker in the rear.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll make some phone calls and see. I want a limited slip over a fulltime locker. Fulltime lockers suck in ice and snow.

Looking at the Ford website I see the 2018 F250s with the 6.2 only come with an E-locker with the 4:30 gears. But you can get a limited slip with the 3:73. Are the axles different between the 6.2 and 6.7 PS?

Reason I'm asking is I was looking at 6.7 PS. I have looked at the 6.2s as well. And may still go that way still just really leaning towards a 6.7. Thanks again.

The e locker on the trucks you pull out the knob to activate it when you want it locked and it's only in LOCK up to 20 mph then it disengages. It's not a full time locker

I'm tracking on the E-locker, I was replying to Buliwfy about the Detroit Locker which is a fulltime locker.

I’d go with a factory limited slip case which will be rebuildable and probably the most economical option? AFAIK, I haven’t read where the axles are any different on the F-250 Sterling rear diff. between a 6.2 vs 6.7. The optional M275 on the F-250 is a whole different ball of wax.

Agreed, I don't know of any changes to the rear axle. Get the True-Track, they work great. Smooth and quiet, no chatter/clunk.

I disagree with that, I think they work great if drive properly, my auto lockers handle about the same in the snow as my factory limited slip does but they do much better in a tough situation. If you don't want an auto locker then a Truetrac is a great option. Stay away from the factory limited slip, they aren't that great. I have heard that the newer Ford 10.5 has 37 spline axles but I am not sure, you should pull one of your axles out and check before you order. You only have to take the 8 bolts out and the axle shaft comes right out, you don't even have to take the wheel off, but it would be a good idea to lift that side or pull up on a ramp or block so you don't lose any gear oil.

Interesting article showing the upgrade of a 10.5” sterling to a factory H.D. 3 pinion limited slip case.

Forget the Detroit Locker. They are noisy and harsh.

The true-track works great. Smooth and seamless.

I have an FX4 (so its an E-locker) but if I were daily driving in snow I would want the LSD (true-track) instead of the E-Locker.

If I were plowing snow I would want the E-Locker.

Build and Price may be wrong, but you CAN buy 2018 F250s with a 6.2 and a 3.73 Locking rear.
