KY Chapter 2018 BS/General chat

Instead of making a new thread every momth, let's try just 1 for the entire year.

How's everyone been? Plans for the year?https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...e29baa3d97.jpgIn other news, Michelle is still kicking. Front is completely on air, and she now has 307k miles.

CampSpringsJohn 01-22-2018 10:11 AM

I'm not around here much anymore. Still doing the axle repair stuff, though it's been slow for a while. Still not much work going on in Eastern Ky like it used to be. Still have 3 PSD's. The 08 has cost me some money lately. Replaced the front cover, exhaust manifolds and up pipes, and a radiator. Nothing about working on that truck is cheap.

I understand. Just trying to keep the chapter alive.

Hey guys.

Michelle needs a bath!

I'm getting ready to assemble and install the bed on mine. Then the front inner fenders and grille, then on to wiring. I'm not going to install the front fenders, doors, or hood until last. It's easier to get around everything without them.

SideWinder4.9l 01-29-2018 04:14 AM

Great to see her coming along, Ken!

Like eating an elephant. One bite at a time. :-X22
Although some times it seems like just a nibble.

Merry February to my KY neighbors.
Ken that is a nice looking project in progress.
Wesley I see you are also 300 I6 guy.

One of the best truck engines Ford ever built.

5_labsownus 02-02-2018 10:40 PM

I agree, I have an 82 F250 with a Holly 4bbl and EFI exhaust manifolds. It keeps on going, will get down and grunt once and pull like no other.

SideWinder4.9l 03-21-2018 12:41 AM

I haven't driven a V series anything in 10 years and 0 complaints about it.

my truck has 310k miles now.

5_labsownus 03-23-2018 09:06 PM

I have to say I do own a 7.3 and love it. I have for the most part driven I4s and I6s most of my life with a few good V8s in there somewhere.
May everyone in KY have a great weekend!

SideWinder4.9l 05-24-2018 12:37 AM

How's everyone doing?

5_labsownus 05-27-2018 09:22 AM

Good Memorial Sunday morning KY and all who pass through.
Thanks to all who serve, have served and especially those who gave their all.

CampSpringsJohn 05-28-2018 07:27 AM

Work has been good for the most part. Trucks have been behaving themselves, though my 02 is due new tires, exhaust, and a dent repair from hitting a post while backing out of a parking place at a gas station. This place has the posts placed about 6 feet from the pumps. Oh well.

Anyhow, my 99 still functions as a backup work truck. The 02 had a turbo upgrade a few month back (KC-38R), much better than the standard bolt on Garret 38R, quieter! The 08, my everyday work truck is at 242,000 miles and still going strong.

5_labsownus 05-28-2018 09:43 AM

I think we all have found a post or two that was just not place where it should have been.

This 1988 F350 (7.3/5 Speed) followed me home. Reverse is out, so on the hunt for a 2wd 5 speed cheap.

CampSpringsJohn 06-17-2018 05:35 AM

You may as well do the clutch while it's out! So, Wes is now an I.D.I. Guy! Looks like a good truck!

5_labsownus 06-20-2018 09:51 AM

Looks pretty good for an 88. Did my time in an IDI. Found a tranny for it yet?

Yeah, $350 later.

Then the Fuel Shutoff Solenoid went bad, and messed quite a bit of stuff up.

5_labsownus 07-13-2018 10:22 PM

Had that happen before. 350, not bad if the tranny is good.
Have a great weekend.

I changed the trans fluid and it had 0 shavings, chunks, etc in it.

Score for me.

5_labsownus 07-14-2018 12:38 PM

Score, Yes!! Glad to hear that. How is the cluster coming?
How is the weather there today 'Eastern KY' really nice here even with the temps at 92.

Good Morning KY, SideWinder and all who sail through. I hope your Monday was a good and you have a great Taco Tuesday!
About where in East KY would you be located?
I am just east of Huntington off I64.

What's everyone up to?

I went to a stereo demo day

5_labsownus 07-30-2018 09:10 PM

Mostly the storm that hit this evening and the wind that went with it. But no damage and now it is nice out.
"Stereo demo" in a GMC, well maybe the radio had more power! LOL

5_labsownus 07-31-2018 10:11 PM

Good night Kentucky, Sidewinder and July. See you on the other side!

Hard to believe it's already August 3rd!

I'm prepping Michelle for a show the 18th in Big Stone Gap, VA.

5_labsownus 08-03-2018 08:02 AM

Good Friday morning SideWinder and all of KY. Have a great start to the weekend.

5_labsownus 09-13-2018 08:21 PM

Good Thursday evening SideWinder and all of Kentucky and it has been a while you dropped in and same for me. Everyone east of Frankfort watching Flo to see where she is going like we are? What I see is still a guess which way she goes. Last prediction shows the path going more south and into eastern Kentucky. But as wide as she is we in the western WV will see a lot of rain. Not worried about wind but rain seeing how wet we have been.
Will be thinking of everyone and the possibility of flooding!

I'm curious to see how it turns out.

5_labsownus 09-14-2018 11:04 PM

I am as well, looks like we Eastern KY and WV could see some heave rain Sunday or so by the last track I saw tonight. How flood prone is your area? I am safe bur around me could be flooded.
Have a great night and weekend.

I'm pretty far up the hillside, so it would take Noah's flood to wash me off

Working on getting a new wiper motor and a carrier bearing on my dually

5_labsownus 09-15-2018 10:04 PM

That is me on the hill and if I get flooded about 75% of the US will be under water.

Good Sunday evening Kentucky and all who pass through. How has Fall been treating every one?

Definitely feeling the chill in the air...

5_labsownus 10-21-2018 10:09 PM

33° when I woke at 8am but did warm up in the afternoon nicely.
How have things been the KY the las several weeks. Mid September Wife and I took Daughter, Son-N-las and grandson to Carter Cave for 2 days and had a great time. Many great memories remembered and regaled!

EffieTrucker 10-22-2018 12:21 PM

It was 30F here yesterday morning. It has been as low as 29F. Definitely some frost on the pumpkin.
