05 headlights in an early 99 f250...help
 

As the title states, I'm attempting to swap in some 05-07 headlights on my early 99. After a couple hours of work removing the old headlights and header panel and installing the new 05-07 header panel, I have hit a snag. I bought the adapters from riffraff so that I can run the newer style bulb, that works perfect. The turn signal bulb also locks in perfect. The problem is the running/hazard/parking lights (whatever you want to call it). They will go in the hole in the new 05-07 headlight assembly, but they will not turn to lock. The running light socket is at a 90 degree angle so when I try to turn it to lock in, it hits the headlight assembly and won't lock.

My plan was to look for a straight running light socket so that it will not hit the assembly when I turn it to lock in. However, the running light socket only has 2 pins. Everywhere I've looked for a straight connector, they all have 3 pins or they are a 90 degree. Has anybody that has done the conversion had this issue? I'm going to the junkyard tomorrow to see if I can find a straight connector from a 99-04 or 05-07 super duty.

Have you tried to change the orientation? Start at 12 instead of 3 or 9 instead of 6 etc?

If you’re using the 05-07 header panel, you’ll need the grill and bumper too.

Seems like I used the socket from my '99 setup.....its been a while......I know that there are videos on how to do all this online/YouTube.....

Well after going to various auto parts stores, I finally found 2 straight connectors for the running lights that will lock in. I got the header panel and newer headlights in yesterday, and waited untill it got dark so I could adjust the lights. The driver's side adjusted fine and is WAY brighter than the old 2 piece lights. However, the passengers side light adjustment did not go as well. The passengers side adjustment screw is messed up. I can bring the light beam up while turning the adjustment screw, but after about 15 turns, the beam falls back down. Basically, the passengers side beam points roughly 10 feet in front of the truck at the most.

So now I'm looking at buying a replacement for the passengers side, and am debating on just buying the drivers side too so that I won't have one really new, clear lense and one really foggy/faded lense. After all the work and headache to get the header panel and new headlights in, only to find out one of the lights won't adjust right, I can definitely see how these are 6.0 headlights :-X04

Jo7.3 I am literally doing the 05 header panel swap as we speak. Or I was until I hit a snag. My header panel did not come with any hardware on it. Did yours? Can you take a pic of how the headlights mount? I do not have any adjustment screws. I am assuming they are on the top of the header panel/headlight. Do I need to buy something to make this work?

I ordered my header panel from ebay and it came with no hardware at all. I used what I could from the old one, and had to make a run to a few auto parts stores to get enough clips and screws. The headlights use four screws and clips to mount, one on each corner of the headlight. The adjustment screws for the headlights are built into the headlights and they only adjust up or down.

The little silver screw is the adjustment screw. Turn it one way to bring the beam up, turn it the other way to bring the beam down

That's funny I saw that and thought it looked like an adjustment screw but decided it wasn't. I've never seen one like before. Thanks for the pic.

They are external torx, I can't remember the size right off hand.

I had the adjustment issue on my driver's side when I did my headlight swap, and ended up shimming my header panel with a piece of wood I had laying around to alleviate the issue. Correct way to do it? Probably not. Did it work? Yep.

I have the '99-'04 bumper with '05 H-D headlights, '05-'07 header panel and a trimmed '05-'07 grill.

Pretty sure it's not necessary to use the '05-'07 grill (Trimmed on the bottom) the only other variation is the vertical ends are not rounded. I'm pretty sure it would fit all the same. :-wink

No bumper was needed when we switched to 05 Headlights. Include some pictures when your done please.
