The early 6.0 was a problem child. It wasn't until 2006 Job 2 that they really fixed it's major issues, and then dropped it after '07. Typical problems include EGR cooler failures which can turn the coolant to mud and cause corrosion in the cooling system. Then there's the head gasket issue, although a lot of those came (I think) from performance modding the engine. This engine is operating at capacity in stock form. Turbos are prone to coking, although that is a problem with all the VVT systems if not properly driven. Don't just let them sit and idle. There's an old saying about all the modern diesels, "Drive it like it's stolen". They're not good grocery getters or school busses. I would be VERY cautious buying an '03 unless I had good knowledge of it's history. It would also have to be a smokin' deal. Because you might just end up with a smokin' engine.
Frankly, It would be an extremely hard sell to get me to buy one. Don't be afraid to say "No". |
Thanks for the input, I have a friend who works at. Ford dealership pull g oasis report for me, and I am lining up to do egr delete and oil cooler immediately
