Timken Hub Assembly morning

Is there an easier way. ? |

with those 8 axle nuts on a few threads, give the axle shaft a good whack with a brass hammer at a right angle to the shaft. That should free up the 8 cones under the nuts and then slide the axle out. If you try to free them off with out the nuts on a few threads chances are better than not that one will shoot off to a unknown crevice in your garage.
now that the shaft is out, free off the locking tab from the lock nut and remove as normal, keeping a note or picture of the parts stack. grab the stub hub and pull straight out and now you have access to the backing plate mounting bolts. here are some Pn's for your parts guy bearing/race inner, Timken 18690/18620 bearing/race outter, Tinken 18790/18720 grease seal stub hub, SKF 23820 grease seal pinion SKF 13738 |
