Good score

I found a 78-79 F150 supercab 4x4 this morning. 400 auto, edelbrock intake and carb. He just bought it for the Meyers plow a few years ago and only drives chevys so didn't really want it. He said they had it running and it sounded ok. Body is pretty rough, as is the interior. It's a Ranger with jump seats, auto trans. Free to haul it off. Sorry, I only do FTE from my desktop, no pictures yet. Pretty sure it will just be a parts truck to use the axles under my 59 or 60. I'll have to see how good it runs and if he can find a title

Free is usually my favorite price too. Not always the best deal overall sometimes, but for a parts rig- can't beat that with a stick.

Some would actually prefer stick, rather than auto, for a 4x4, so in that case you COULD beat that deal with a stick.

Even though I've owned a lot of dentsides over the years, this is the first in my mini boneyard. I started buying up old Fords I could get cheap because they are getting harder to find for parts.
So right now I have a 40 tonner panel, a 40 1 1/2 ton. A 59 F100, a 60 F100 4x4, 62 Ranchero, a late 77 F250 4x4, 89 460 2wd SC, 89 F250 SC 4x4 460 5 speed, 90 F150 2wd, 76 Scout pickup, 71 merc 429 and a 73 Merc 429
The panel truck and the 60 4x4 are project trucks

My concern lever really jumped when they were doing cash for clunkers and scrap prices were high. I saw so many nice trucks flattened or on to of the heap at the recyler. Nicer trucks than I drive. I decided a year or so ago to start saving the ones I could get cheap. Right now the 80s and 90s trucks are easiest to find and I'm always on the hunt for anything big block and/or ZF 5 speed. I keep my stuff at my nephew's ranch and we have probably over 50 vehicles between us. I think at least 7-8 dentsides including a 4x4 crew

yeah the only cheap one around here are 90s everybody that has an 70s or 80s for sale thinks there are gold bars in them i currently have about 5 and a half trucks

Thanks for saving her. :oval Even if she's rough, there are supercab specific items that are not re-manufactured. So check it out before you toss anything.

Haha, I never waste anything. I even save all the bolts, screws and fasteners when I take something apart. It is a pet peeve to see Lawson bolts under the hood of an old Ford.
