6.7l egr delete

2012 F250, 6.7L. I got an EGR delete only tune from 5 star. I removed the EGR cooler and installed a sinister EGR delete kit. I'm not getting any lights but the truck is running weak. It comes on strong until about 45 then backs off and won't accelerate above 55.

Any ideas what is going on?

falconetti 12-03-2017 08:05 PM

I would say it's the tune. contact 5 star, datalog if you have the ability.

Unplug the throttle body and see if that fixes it.

falconetti 12-03-2017 09:13 PM

everything that was supposed to be capped, capped? Vacuum line included.

cdsummers 12-04-2017 05:26 AM

Everything looks correct, butterfly valve and vacuum line included. I'm calling 5 star this morning.

cdsummers 12-04-2017 12:29 PM

So I called 5 star.

They say, even though I confirmed with Stage 3 prior, and called them to confirm after, "we don't do any delete tunes, the people at stage 3 are wrong."

Good thing I've already got the delete pipe and tune from Rudys.

lesson 1: Stage 3 motorsports is full if ****.

lesson 2: do it or don't, no half stepping.

Now what?
So it won't run right until you get the right tune?

cdsummers 12-06-2017 05:28 PM

Yes, but it is done. And it is awesome.

25 mpg at 65 mph.
17 mpg pulling my triple c goose neck at 65 mph.

Those are impressive numbers. I'm pretty sure I could match that if I got a ride from a tow truck.

cdsummers 12-07-2017 02:27 PM

I've got tall gears, 3:31, it helps.

F350-6 12-07-2017 06:11 PM

How long did it take to remove the EGR? Or did you just do the block off plate?

cdsummers 12-08-2017 01:14 PM

It took about 4 hours start to finish. I installed the Sinister delete. Most of the time was eaten up trying to reach the radiator drains, and the dead hose clamp. It' pretty easy, I recommend copious amounts of penetrating oil. The bolts you risk breaking are the ones where the eve pipe goes into the exhaust manifold.

the dpf removal and pipe install took less than 2 hours.

Good afternoon all, I hope this isnt a hi-jack as my question is related to the general title of this message. I am actually researching a few complete delete kit's for my 2011 6.7 and ran across this thread. I'm sure this has been covered a million times already, but is there a single thread that covers what is the most trouble free complete delete kit without a massive HP gain? I am mostly interested in MPG increase and getting rid of all this DPF and EGR crap. Truck doesnt need more power in my opinion, and has run well since i bought it new. It's now out of warranty and has 130k. I just got my first check engine light for an eg sensor, im quite certain many other things will start failing as well. Ive actually been driving for a couple weeks on the check engine light, tried resetting it to prompt a engine regen but no such luck, so truck hasnt run the regen cycle in a couple of weeks - any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I would check out tyrant tunes with a sct. Probably the most cost effective and simplest route. Do egr blocker plates or don't bother if you don't ever plan on going back to stock. Tyrant has 5 different power levels I believe than can be bought in a package then you can run whatever level you want or just purchase the one tune. Have heard nothing but good things about tyrant, sounds like great customer service as well. My neighbor is running this setup on a 11 and is very happy with it.
