F150 ecoboost
replaced all six plugs and # 6 spark coil, check engine light still on, do I need to replace all spark coils to solve this problem
|
What is the DTC? I wouldn't just throw parts at it. Go up and read the code at your local auto parts store.
|
DTC stated #6 spark plug misfire, after replacing all plugs and coil on #6 still getting the same DTC code, did not clear even after disconnecting the battery for 20 minuets and reconnecting
|
You have to clear it with a scan tool. Disconnecting the battery wont do it anymore.

Where do I get that done, autozone doesn’t do it

To also clear codes its been mentioned many times unhook the battery and hook a jumper in between the pos and neg cables to drain the capacitors. BUT MAKE SURE BEFORE THE JUMPER THAT THE HOOKED CABLE CANT RECONNECT OR TOUCH ITS POST......or really bad things can happen like letting the smoke out of wires....that would make for a bad day....

The KAM (keep alive memory) clear as mentioned by boomer is also good to do after changing plugs anyway. It clears all of the learned fuel trims and transmission adaptations.
Make sure the truck is cold and then let it idle to warm (about 20 minutes) after it is done so it can effectively set all of the new fuel trim levels needed to have the engine run the most efficient. |
Thanks to all

has anyone used mobil1 5w 40 oil vs 5W30 in their eco boost. Api specs.allow higher zinc andphos., anti wear additives at higher levels in 40 weight might solve premature
timing changes wear/failure problem. I use 5W40 mobile 1 in my power 2002 power stroke. would like to purchase only one weight oil for my trucks I do understand the difference in emission controls between the two trucks. cats only on the eco boost and a possible problem with beefed up zinc contect with the cats, any comment |

Until that happens, my answer to all this is to disregard Ford's OLM, Oil Life Monitor and dump the oil and filter every 5K miles using the recommended MC products. So far so good here, 79K miles and no unwanted or foreign noises. |
