My 1999 extend cab with 5.4 has a knock and I'm ready for a different truck. Any guidance would be appreciated.

I have seen quite a few SUPERCAB F150s with the 4.9

I have never seen a crewcab with the 4.9

Ok,bummer, I really need a larger cab because of large family. After trying to work on my 5.4 in my 1999 I want a engine bay with excessive room to work on engine. I've also always wanted the famed Ford 300.

A 300 in a crew cab would probably be more of a danger to yourself and others on the road than you think.

Ok, I appreciate all the comments even know it's not what I wanted to hear. I don't do any driving on the interstate with my trucks just mostly local back roads. But I will rethink my plans a bit. Thanks.

From what I've seen the F-250 crew only came with a 460 or a diesel and only with a short bed. The F-350 (long bed only) could have at least the 351 as well, I don't know about the 300 (but it'd be rare and a dog if there were any). If you're interested in an F-250 I certainly wouldn't rule out an F-350.

I think the F-250 SuperCab short box also was 460 or diesel only. The 351 was available in a long box F-250 SuperCab.

We have a couple 4x4 F150 crewcabs running around with 4.9 5 speed. I think they were built outside of the regular plant, like Centurion maybe?? One is a nice red and white 95 I have been trying to buy for years.

the 300 was available in the super cab 250 and 350, but it is pretty rare. i have only seen a handful over the years.

Thanks guys for all the responses. I have opened my search up to all engines at this point. I'm just trying to find a decent reliable truck and this is still quite the challenge. I will post pictures if I find a 87-96 truck. Thanks again.:oval

I think some of the old US Forest Service crew cab 2wd trucks were 300 5 speeds. They mainly only used them to haul a crew and there long handled tools, maybe a mower on a trailer.

300 5 speed and also 300 C6 trans were very popular with the navy and air force. the handful i have seen in person were 5 speed 4X4 trucks, bought for fuel mileage by heavy equipment operators that traveled long distances for work.

My thread and I'm back, I've still been looking on craigslist for a 87-97 F-250 4x4 with no luck. I have a 1976 f-100 2 wheel drive project truck and a 99 f-150 4x4 extended cab work truck that i rarely drive since I have a Ford Focus daily driver. So I have two trucks that get ran very little and would like to sale both and end up with a 87-97 F-250 extended cab with a 5 speed manual and a 460 gas engine and I can not believe how rare this truck is. This will be my project / hot rod / work truck combined.

Where are you located? In ranch country the 460/5speed was fairly popular, I see them on Craigslist regularly.
