2008 Ford E250 4.6V8 Water leak PLEASE HELP

2 Attachment(s)
Afternoon gents (and ladies?)
i recently purchased my van after owning a express for many years, I liked the design of the ford much more so decided to go with it.
However this morning I was driving a long and suddenly overheated, I pulled over and the redo por was empty so I proceeded to fill it. I then noticed all the fluid dropping out from under the truck.
I got towed home and proceeded to pull apart the rear engine cover to look for a blown hose or the like.
I filled the tank again and noticed water pouring out of a little upspout connected to the Manifold cover.
I searched and searched and couldn’t find anything, is there meant to be a hose here or is this some kind of over flow.
Thanks in advance.

Was there nothing on it, I looked at photos of mine, it's a 5.4 and it doesn't have that, it had an aluminum intake too, not plastic which I've heard can warp and leak when overheated. The images I get on the internet have that capped.

Yes, everything I find has it capped off, guess thats why mine doesn't have it, they don't use it, but the 4.6 may have an application where it uses it so instead of making one special intake, all have it, they just put a plug on it.

Hey bud thanks for the reply, i to am wondering if it was just perhaps capped. My boss has the 4.6 E150 and his is capped. I guess i'll try capping it and see what happens, there was no sign of a hose on it when i removed the interior engine door.
Finding a cap could be the issue so i may use a little bit of hose and a 3/4 copper Cap with a hose clamp and see if it works

I looked and everything was capped, I would love to see what uses it, perhaps the police package.

Who knows?!
A friend of mine said it could be something to do with the bigger trucks Triton and up apparently the manifold is the same but he's not a mechanic either so take it with a grain of salt.
Anyhow i appreciate your time, i'll throw a cap on it tomorrow AM and see what happens.

I believe it's a coolant bypass port. If it's about 1" in Dia, this would be the Part # at Advance auto, not sure if that the parts store number or the Dorman number, Part #02250

Yes, you are correct. I fabricated a home made cap and its back to running strong again.
Thanks for your help guys.
