Gas Mileage Towing
Tow vehicle: 2015 F350 DRW 4x4 Stock 6.7L
Toy Hauler: 2017 XLR Thunderbolt 422AMP 16.4k dry ~21k loaded I see an average mileage of 7.6-7.9mpg while towing. Seems about the same whether I'm going over the mountains or on flatlands to the coast. I had a F250 that I used ONCE to pull this TY and mileage was about the same. Curious to see what others are getting pulling these heavy TYs. |
same engine. same mileage.!!

I've got a 2016 F350 DRW, CC, 8' bed, 4x4, 6.7 that is stock, but tow a trailer that is right at 13K loaded. I normally tow it at 65-67 mph and live in E. TN (so some mountains) and I usually end up at about 9.5 on average. Trailer is a tow behind and about 12'6" tall. Oh, and a 3.73 rear end.
|
Running 65-70 MPH, I got between 9.5 and 9.8 when pulling my 41 foot Raptor.
That was last year on a 7000 mile road trip, mostly Rocky Mountain and Great Plains states, along with some Dakotas, Minnesota, amd Wisconsin. Around here locally (northern AZ, southern NV and UT) generally 150 miles or less, stop n go thru towns, etc, I am getting 9.3 to 9.5. 2016 F350 dually with 3.73 gears. Not complaining. |
I don't use gas in my diesel, but no matter what the fuel mileage is I'm keeping the 6.0 forever! Or until it gets willed to one of my grandkids!

There's always that one....why even bother posting then?
Maybe "fuel mileage" would have worked better? Or go to the 6.2 section for the gassers if it is "gas" mileage you're after. Griz |

Griz OK, I'll go post in the 6.2L forum : What king of "gas mileage" are you guys getting by putting by putting "gas" in your 6.7L diesel engines? Stupid is as stupid does...GEEZ Common sense is not very common anymore and as I get older I'm not sure if there is more stupid around or if I just notice it more. :-banghead |

Sorry for "bustin' your chops" for the gas/diesel joke. The devil made me do it!

All good :-X06

I get around 10 mpgs no matter the speed or most hills.
In Colorado going over the mountains it is a bit worse but excellent down the other side. |
2017 F350 4X4 Crew Cab 6.7 (Diesel) 33ft Toy Hauler Approx. 13,500lb loaded. Any where between 9.5 & 10.5mpg @ 65ish mph.
And to the OP I totally understood what you were talking about when I saw you had a 6.7. (gas - diesel) |
I got the same FE as the OP did while towing 19k 13.5’ tall Toy Hauler with my 15 CC-DRW PSD.
