Sport Trac Shopping- What do I need to watch out for?
 

So, I'm looking to buy a 2007 or 2008 Explorer Sport Trac and need shopping advice.

What things do I need to look for, or watch out for, that would eliminate one from consideration, i.e. particular trouble items or issues with them?

For example, I had a 2003 Explorer years back that went through 3 rear differentials, a known problem with them.

Would appreciate any advice as I'm in shopping mode right now and have two that I'm going to go take a look at soon.

Come on folks, somebody on here has to have some input for me.

If you can't advise on particular problem areas on the Sport Tracs, what about engine/transmission choices. 4.6 V8 with 6-Speed auto, or 4.0 V6 with 5-speed auto? Is one a better choice over the other, and why?

I'm in the same position and would love to have the above answered.. I'm considering a Sport Trac versus a Nissan Frontier or Toyota Tacoma.

I'm looking at as late as possible Sport Tracs. 4x4, V8, as fully loaded as can be, etc. etc.

Go with a 2008 or newer. I have a 2010 V8 2WD. Love it. Can't say which one is best only owned the one i have. 2010 Limited
