Adaptive Cruise Control ?'s
OK, who has it and how do you like it? Seems like a great idea to me, but I can't find a truck I want with it to even try. I figure on those long drives on the 2 lane highways like hwy 5, it would make the speeding up and slowing down less of an annoyance. Is it worth holding out for, or is it just a gimmick which isn't implemented well?

It does work, and was one of those must have options for my truck, along with LED headlights. It isn't perfect, and acts like there is a wall in front of you where some of the other higher end cars are a bit smarter. The new 150s have start/stop which I really enjoy in my other vehicles but the F250 does not yet have that function (it really is nice in heavy traffic.) The other issue is that you'll find people tend to jump in front of you, even on the closest setting. Then the truck will brake somewhat abruptly to maintain the distance again. You can see how this could get annoying in traffic. I do use adaptive even while towing my 24' enclosed car trailer and it works great 90-95% of the time. Given the choice, I would absolutely go for a truck with it, even at the higher cost.

Compared to the system in my Subaru, the Ford system is just inferior. It doesn't work below 40 mph, doesn't do stop start which is really useful in stop and go traffic, and the maximum range which you can set it to follow the car in front of you is too close. Considering the weight and stopping distance needed (especially when towing), you'd think Ford would allow some more room between you and the car in front.
Nevertheless even an inferior adaptive cruise is better than none at all. |
It's worth every penny.

I do not have it in my 2017 but if it is anything like my wife's 2017 Explorer then I agree with 'brickman', it is worth every penny.

I like it. Adjustable range. Responds quick. Makes light traffic easier. Glad I have it.
|
Love it. Hate driving cars without it now.
|
Love it. Use it all the time and when when towing my 5th wheel.
|
love it, one of my favorite features.

There is so much I like about this truck. Adaptive CC is by far my favorite feature.
|
Awesome feature. Makes the drive to work allot less stressful.
|
Second favorite feature behind massage seats - use it every day. LED lights are #3.

Led lights and adaptive cruise are the 2 things I wouldn’t have bought the truck without

Another + for liking adaptive cruse use it a lot, also don’t like the gap where people still cut in but better safer than sorry.

Took my first trip in the truck yesterday since purchase where I was going 70+ on the highway for 300 miles. I have to say my first time with a vehicle with adaptive cc takes a little getting used to, but it was really nice to not have to keep switching it on/off and just let it do it's thing. Still getting used to it vs how I had used regular cc on vehicles for many years. When it wants to slow the truck, it really does. Sometimes in a hurry!
